Compiling the perfect summer playlist

Not that my music collection is all that extensive.
But it's pretty fun with the songs/artists I DO have.
I'm trying to decide whether or not I should add Hannah Montana, but none of her songs really work.
Ugh, I just added some Rocket Summer. GROSS.
17 songs so far.
Aww, I'm doing this thing with my itunes where I listen to all the songs in order of when they were last played, so I don't want to mess it up and listen to this playlist.
Phooey.
Because you know how I am about my ipod.
I'll try to avoid Atreyu and "The King and I" soundtrack.
Beatles...yay or nay??
I want some of their good stuff. Not that "Magical Mystery Tour" wasn't smashing or anything. But...it seems I'm more of a "Across the Universe" Beatles fan.
I heard "Come Together" on the radio the other day and was like, "OMG, BEATLES!"

You Are Pretty Charming

While you're not a natural charmer, you can be charming when you want to be.

And lucky for those around you, you usually feel like turning on the charm.

You project a happy, calm image - even when you're feeling the exact opposite.

You make people feel great about being around you... though you're not always up for putting in the effort.

Blogthings has been posting a lot more regularly now, and that's pretty great.
Even if the quizzes aren't that accurate.
Lol, should I add "Roxanne" by the police??
Yesterday, the sermon was about Rahab the prostitute (in Sunday school, not in regular church. That wouldn't have gone over well.), so William and I were singing "Roxanne", and the new version "Rahab".
Rahab...you don't have to put out that red cord.
Agh, so my playlist finally has 35 SONGS.
Now I need to do some cleaning.
Hey, I only used 3 FOB songs. Trust me, that's, like, impossible for me.
Just deleted "My Boyfriend's Back".
Aw, I wish.

You Are Break Dancing

You are a rebel and a rule breaker.

You are uniquely you, and you expressing your individuality.

And while you're different and a bit weird, you're no slacker.

You're extremely hard working. Having unusual talents is not as easy as it looks!

Okay, deleting more oldies.
Should I delete the song about the suave boy from NYC or the couple getting it on under the boardwalk??
Ugh, "Let's Twist Again" by Chubby Checker fits the mood, but it's SOOO cliche`. (How come I can never find those stupid punctuations?? Stupid French.)
And, to tell the truth, "Wild One" by Bobby Rydell is the coolest song ever.
Okay. Bye bye, Chubby Checker.
I'm keeping the song about the boardwalk tryst. Because they talk about sun and hot dogs...among other things.
Of my three Disney songs, only "All Star" remains.
Down to 30 now.
Three FOB songs: "Of All the Gin Joints in the World", "Thriller", and "Chicago is So Two Years Ago".
Hmmmmm...bad breakup song...gone.
Two songs by the same name...but one sucks.
Ha ha, hasta la vista, McFly.
Took off some not strictly summer songs. 26 now.
Tie is being pouty. She wants to be held and played with at the same time, which is virtually impossible, as she jumps around when she plays.
I'm trying to get down to 18 or 20. Which should GO??
Two "High School Musical 2" songs. "What Time Is It" is sort of an opening opener, but I don't know.
Forget Zac Efron. Ashley Tisdale stays.
HALLELUJAH! 19 songs, and I didn't use anything by Atreyu or FM Static.
Now for the order.
I love these shorts. For realz.
Okay, finished it. There's sort of a story. A weird, nonsensical nonlinear story.
1. "Friday Night", Slick Shoes
2. "We've Only Just Begun", Run Kid Run
3. "Luckie St.", Cartel
4. "Great Escape", Boys Like Girls
5. "Bring 'Em Out", Hawk Nelson
6. "Of All the Gin Joints in the World", Fall Out Boy
7. "Another Girl, Another Planet", Blink-182
8. "Wild One", Bobby Rydell
9. "All Star", Smash Mouth
10. "Girlfriend", Avril Lavigne
11. "Cupid's Chokehold / Breakfast in America (Featuring Patrick Stump)", Gym Class Heroes
12. "Cadillac Phunque", Family Force 5
13. "Saturday", Olivia the Band
14. "Saturday in the Park", Chicago
15. "Fabulous", Ashley Tisdale
16. "Rio de Janeiro", Ugly Duckling
17. "Walking on Sunshine", Jump5 (oh yes, I went there)
18. "Accidentally In Love", Counting Crows
19. "Under the Boardwalk", The Drifters
All done!! Now off to other things...like...sleeping.
Good books: "Born Too Short: The Confessions of an Eighth-Grade Basket Case" by Dan Elish and "I Can't Tell You" by Hilary Frank.
"I Can't Tell You" was good, but sad. Like, not TRAGIC sad, just..."I wish it were a happier ending." :( But it was semi-hopeful. Just a little offsetting and depressing.
"Born Too Short" was cute and funny, though. Very well-written.
Anything by Daniel Ehrenraft is good, too.

I love shirtless fauns!!!!

Agh, what a weekend.
So Friday: Daniel calls while I'm watching Hannah Montana and asks when we're going to see "Wall-E". So we decide on a time, and call everyone up, but NO ONE CAN MAKE IT. So we decide to see it Saturday.
But then Jessica calls and asks if I want to see it with her that day at the Rodeo Drive-In. So Jessica's sister takes us and we wait for like 3 hours until it gets dark and watch "Wall-E" (which was SOOO CUTE) and "Prince Caspian" (which sucked, even after the second time around).
Seriously.
The shirtless fauns were nice, though.
And the hot British boys.
And the ADORABLE red-headed centaur near the end of the movie.
Aaaaaah, minotaur sacrificing itself for its fellows: KILLS ME EVERY TIME!
So then Saturday: Alexis calls and says everyone is going to see "Wall-E" again. I go with everyone and watch it and drink Coke and then we go to ToysRus and the mall and play Hide-and-Seek and football for 2 hours.
Then today we had to go to this park for Sunday School and it was hot, so we drove back home for a BBQ with lots of cupcakes.
Agh.
Tie and I spent the last 2 hours lolling about on the bed. Because it's hot and we're tired.
Gah.
OMG I got new shorts and a T-shirt that says, "I love carbs". It's pretty amazing.
I'm going to marry Skandar Kaynes.

Asian eating utensils!

You Are Chopsticks

People see you as exotic, unusual, and even a bit intimidating.

You are a difficult person to figure out.

In truth, you try to live a very simple life.

But most people are too frenzied to recognize the beauty of your simplicity.

Now I'm no longer alone

The song "Blue Moon" makes me smile. No clue why.
"Leader of the Pack" is dumb...and super depressing.
As is "How to Save A Life".
I'm addicted to the Wii now.
I played it for the first time at Alexis' house and it's pretty amazing. Especially Wii Sports and Mario Party.
Yaaah High-Spirited Duo!!
My family has the old school "Game of Life" from the 80's, so the highest salary is $50k as a doctor, and you don't buy houses or pay off your college loan.
But in the newer game, you gain money from life experience, which is much needed, seeing as you have to pay off college, night school, and a house w/ a meager salary. Alexis and I were bankrupt for much of the game. And I had stock and NO ONE SPUN THE NUMBER 7 THE ENTIRE GAME!!
How positively depressing.
Summer is cool and all, but not when you don't really have anything to do...or blog about.
Oooh.

You should have gone to the prom with me, Natty.

EW EW EW EW EW Sean Astin is SOOO CREEPY!!! He's the killer in "Mr. Monk, At Your Service", and he has the ugliest haircut. Why is it that he plays the same character in EVERY MOVIE? It's like Sam Gamgee every time. My mom saw this movie with him and said he was very hobbitish there, too. Agh, but he was so WEIRD AND CREEPY!!! He kept hitting on Natalie. "If things with you and your boyfriend don't work out..." "You should have gone to the prom with me, Natty."
And the 911 call??? Sooooo obvious.
Experimental ice cream cake the Rachael Ray way didn't work out too well. Probably because the cake wasn't all the way cooled, so the ice cream melted. It still tasted good, though.

Why is it always vanilla?

You Are a Vanilla Shake

Vanilla, yes, but definitely not boring.

You are subtly complex and deeply sophisticated.

You're the type of person who has always been ahead of their time.

You don't fall for gimmicks or tricks. You are drawn to what's true.

You Are Chocolate Chip Ice Cream

You are kind, popular, and generous.

You tend to be successful at anything you try.

A social butterfly, you are great at entertaining a crowd.

You are most compatible with strawberry ice cream.

Your Ice Cream Personality:

You like to think of yourself as a fairly modest person. And it's true that you don't talk yourself up... but you're also pretty happy with who you are.

You are incredibly cautious. You rather miss out on something than make a mistake. No one would ever call you wild... but they would call you responsible.

You are a fairly open minded person with a wide range of tastes. You are quite accepting of unusual ideas and people.

You are a natural multitasker. You feel alive when you're doing more than one thing at a time.

You are fun loving and sweet. You tend to enjoy joking around and teasing people.

You Are A Strawberry Ice Cream Girl

Sweet. Romanic. Genuine.

You Are Chocolate Fudge Brownie Ice Cream

You just don't know when you've had enough (or too much)!

You Are a Hot Fudge Sundae

Classic, simple, and divine.

Why mess with perfection?

We can sleep as late as we want to

Aaaah, I'd almost forgotten "High School Musical 2", but it's one of the best summer soundtracks EVER. I'm getting a little tired of the movie after watching it so many times, though.
Okay, even though I didn't like "Camp Rock" so much, I sort of want to buy the soundtrack, but so does my dad, sooooo.... $10, maybe he'll want to buy it.
The song "Viva la Vida" has been stuck in my head a lot.
MUST BUY IT.
And I still have 15 bucks!!
Cleaning out itunes...again.
Daaang, where is The Classic Crime's new album already? Holy crap.
Awww, doesn't come out till July.
"Gravedigging"? "Abracadavers"? Lol. "God and Drugs"?
Wth???? Is Matt McDonald clinically depressed?
And they used to be classified as Indie Rock and Alternative Rock, but now their NEWER material is Emo and Post Hardcore...whatever that means.
They're having youth band tryouts on Tuesday, and my brother REALLY wants to try out on guitar, and my parents want me to try out on bass, but why bother?
They SAY they need a bunch of people because their seniors are leaving, but I'm thinking it's just to please the youth pastor.
Ooh, Pastor Mike said if I ever want to play on worship team, I should start with youth band.
Harsh.

What have we become??

You Should Vote for John McCain

Where you and John McCain agree: Abortion - Health Care - Immigration - The War in Iraq

Where you and John McCain disagree: Cuba - Education - Global Warming - Taxes

No way. If John McCain is the candidate I agree with MOST, and we only agree half the time, what's the point?
I guess it's good I'm not 18.
I was reading about Rudy Giuliani today and he was kind of a jerk.
Oh yeah, and according to "Freakonomics", his stupid NYPD didn't do anything to lower crime rates.
Okay, I took the quiz again and did the opposite of what I DID agree with, and it said I should vote for Bob Barr.
Who is he?? And I only agreed with him for 3 out of 8 issues!!!
Fun, a musical survey.
Too bad my browser sucks.

Champions and chumpions (and the lies of Disney)

A LOOOOT has happened since Monday, but I have to get all the stupid "Camp Rock" stuff out of my system.
Agh, what a letdown. Seriously, there was so much hype. "Demi Levato is a superstar!" "The Jonas Brothers rule!" "This is the next High School Musical!!!"
Not quite.
"High School Musical" was *ahem* a musical (hence the name). "Camp Rock" is about a large freakish group of musicians that assemble at a Canadian camp, so there was definitely music involved, but not a lot of big song and dance numbers, and none of the songs were really memorable or special. It was just generic Disney crap.
Demi Levato DOES have a great voice, but she didn't do a lot of singing. She had 2 or 3 songs max, and they were short. Also, none of the other characters were all that good. More generic Disney crap, a few Cheetah Girls clones, some uber-stereotyped black and Mexican kids, etc.
Sadly, Joe Jonas was probably the best actor in the entire movie, but that's not saying too much.
I'm not saying the movie wasn't totally enjoyable (for the most part, anyway). It was just a little disappointing.
There were some totally amazing lines, though. Kevin's character cracked me up.
"Which color?" "Those are exactly the same." "So you see my dilemma!!!"
"I wanted a birdhouse so more birds would come..." (you'd have to be there)
"It's the silver rule. Okay, the copper rule." (Okay, again.)
"I was just, you know... MMM, toast."
Awww, my favorite song was probably the stupid finale one. I feel so LAME.
On other non-"Camp Rock" news:
GRADUATION!!!!! It was scary, because I was one of the MCs and I messed up a lot, but the principal said I did great. Sure. It's all right if you're lying. Graduating itself was so weird, because I'm SO not ready to go up to the high school, but it was also like, "Finally, school's over." But only partly. I got a couple awards, but the only one I was really surprised by was the "Outstanding Service" award. Yay, I put my name on a plaque! I don't get to KEEP it, but whatever, it's in the school.
Argh, do NOT want to go to the high school next year. Me and a bunch of my friends auditioned for Wind Ensemble on Tuesday and only two people made it. I wasn't one of them. It kind of made me feel like crap, because I know it wasn't personal, but the guy who DID make it in my place has been playing trombone for 2 years, and if I've been playing for 5 and he's better than me, how much do I suck?? I guess I've always been really cocky about my playing ability, but it turns out I was totally wrong.
So that kind of sucked.
But then I went to Alexis' youth group w/ Alexis, Daniel, and Jessica, and Daniel ripped his hand open; Alexis, Jessica, and I called our team "The Poofters" (for all you Kiwis); and then we watched "Charlie and Candy Mountain" AND the sequel about the Banana King.
Yeaaaah, at my grandma's AGAIN. High speed!! Woooh!!! We're just hanging out and partying (although my grandparents are in bed). There is an abundance of brownies. Their neighbor tried to bring over 3 pans of pudding filled double chocolate brownies.
I love that man.

Radda radda radda

Mamma mia, 31 flavors!
Ever been REALLY tired and REALLY PMS-y at the same time?
Yeah, that's a good combo.
I didn't start feeling REALLY tired until science. Oh, how I hate science.
Grades are already supposed to be turned in, but he's making us do a lab and turn in our binders and do boring things.
It's pretty hot outside. It's kind of nice.
So are donuts, which Faxon brought this morning.
MR. VILLIERS CAME BACK! He's visiting for a week, and totally doesn't remember any of our names, but it was so worth it.
But once he's finished visiting, he's going to Korea.
Hello, why don't you come back HERE?
It sucks because I don't want to do driver's ed, but my parents are like, "Well, if you're not doing driver's ed, taking summer school, working, or going to youth group, what WILL you do?"
Um...nothing?
Isn't that the point of summer, since the whole school year was spent doing SOMETHING?
Why not just veg out, chill with my dog, watch summer movies, read billions of books, and socialize with people I already know rather than go out there, make new friends, and LEARN?

Fish and citrus don't mix.

But Squirt and smoked salmon are so good!!!
We had to watch the very last scene of "Field of Dreams" (XP) in church before the sermon started, and the dad was all, "Heaven is the place where dreams come true."
....
Heaven is Disneyland???
Thanks to you, I full expect a magical theme park where kindly employees blow magic dust to create for me a Mickey Mouse doll while I stay in Cinderella Castle.
William is a usurper. It's annoying.
I got bored, so I went on the Love Calculator (Looooong story...) this morning, and...65%.
Oh well. Not like I care.
Andkon! Andkon!
I'm at my grandma's again with the high-speed internet, so anything is possible.

Bobbedy Bob Bob

I don't know if Bob Smithouser wrote the review, but it's pretty hilarious. I commend whoever it is.
"Perhaps the Nolans' greatest trick of all is to make us forget that we're watching Wolverine, Batman (and his butler!), Gollum and David Bowie."
Go to http://www.pluggedinonline.com and search for "The Prestige."

Twins! Clones!! Britains!

I was going to go go-cart racing with Paul and Alexis, but my mom dragged me up to my grandma's house to weed the garden.
However, with the nice, freezing Washington weather, and the sound of "Low Voice" and "High Voice" from Blink-182 (my dad's names for the two vocalists) blasting through the speakers, and a lesson in dead-heading, it's been pretty fun. Dead-heading is cool. Snap it off at the pineapple ring!!!! Then my mom gave me clippers and made me cut up all the soleil. I don't want to brag, but I'm pretty much the best soleil cutter in the entire world.
My grandma ordered Dominoe's pizza, and it struck me that homemade pizza IS actually better. But not if it's made with Krappy Kraft mozzerella.
OMG, "The Prestige" is the coolest movie I've ever seen!!!
Christian Bale's British accent got a little annoying, and Hugh Jackman's character was a jerk, but it was well made, well written, and the acting was half bad.
The ending didn't blow me away quite as much because I figured it out (for the most part), but it was still like, "Whoas!!!"
THE TOP HATS!!!
Although both magician's were sort of jerks, it was a little easier to identify with Borden. Angier was sort of asking for it.
No more band concerts. It's all over.
I still have to go to jazz band on Monday, though. What's up with that?
Yay, I'm Most Valuable Musician or whatever in Jazz I.
I can't wait for high school band!!!!

Even more cuteness!

Snatching is so much fun. But Sarah got paranoid and was running from me all day.
All I had for lunch was cookies. Tyler had some magically delicious cookies from a pouch, and a cookie that looked like vomit but tasted good, and Sarah gave me an Oreo, and then I ate some Chips Ahoy.
Phew, both English finals were SO easy. Band, Health, and French didn't have a final, and I got a B on the science final, so the only thing I have to worry about is the math final on Friday the 13th. How clever, Mr. Kovacs.
EWWWWWWW we had to watch "Life's Greatest Miracle" today in Health, and we didn't get to the part where the baby comes out, but we had to watch sex from the inside!! You know what I'm talking about, right? Not only that, but we had to look at guys in Speedos, various animals mating, and this guy make out with some random girl on a beach WHERE HE TAKES OFF HER DRESS!!! WHOA!!! WHY ARE WE BEING ALLOWED TO WATCH THIS???
And then we had to take a good look at HIS sexual organ, and then the baby's stump. Not quite a penis or anything else, just a stump.
Connor, Sarah, and I were practically barfing. And we had to watch all this RIGHT AFTER LUNCH. I almost literally tossed my cookies.

Hey Amber

So these pictures are for you and everyone else who wants to gaze upon the cuteness that is Tie.
More to come, I guess.

Guilty as a morphodite

"Kung Fu Panda" = best movie EVER.
Not only was it funny, but my brothers and I had like 4 bags of candy that we were sharing.
Jack Black is actually funny...when he's animated. Shi Fu was so adorable. Jackie Chan should've had more lines. "We are noodle folk! Broth runs through our veins!"
"The Italian Job" (Michael Caine version) and "Ocean's Thirteen" are two of my new favorites, too.
I'm trying to figure out which was better, though. I mean, "Ocean's Thirteen" was seamless and MUCH more high-tech, but it also included Brad Pitt and George Clooney, and I hate them both, and "The Italian Job" seemed more real; things went wrong, and some reckless driving left them hanging over the edge of the cliff.
Still, I HATE cliff-hanger endings, because it's too stupid to be optimistic about them.
Like this one Ray Bradbury (I think?) story where this woman thinks she is being followed by an escaped murderer and runs all the way home, goes inside, thinking she is safe, but then discovers a man in her living room. THAT'S HOW IT ENDS. All the other girls in my class were like, "It's a nice man! Oh, it's that prankster guy from across the street!" Get real.
It's a murderer, and she'll most likely end up dead like Liv Tyler in "The Strangers".
Lol, Alexis made Paul and I listen to "Shoes". It was pretty hilarious.
YAAAAY I got the baritone part for "Pirates of the Caribbean!" RAAAH!
Daniel and I are a super team! That makes fun of trumpets! "Ooooh...OOOOOH...OOOH...I keep messing up!"
The Talent Show plans are in motion! And it's only 10 days away!!

Boxers are the greatest

And I'm not talking about the dog.
Seriously, they're SOOOOO comfortable. I can see why guys wear them. Everyone should wear boxers. And they increase fertility!
Sex Ed has been going pretty well in Health. We're now watching some Pam Stenzel videos. Everyone else kind of hates her, but she's pretty cool. Her dad was a rapist. That sucks. She doesn't know her real ethnicity.
Life has been kind of boring lately.
School won't hurry up and end all ready. We still have 2 MORE WEEKS left. Math is the only class I enjoy now. Besides English. And Health, sometimes.

What the Beach Test Says About You

You like people, but you're careful about who you get close to. Friendship is important to you... so important that you aren't just friends with anyone.

You fall in love with ease and confidence. Even if you've had bad experiences in the past, each new love is a reason to start completely over.

You are deeply passionate about several things in your life. You're not passionate about much... and the few passions you have are truly obsessions.

Your sense of humor is goofy and silly. You are good at making almost anyone laugh.

We've had Tie 2 weeks and she's pretty amazing. She waited for me until I woke up, and then acted all excited when I finally got out of bed. How nice is that?
"Am I Right or Am I Right?" was a REALLY SAD BOOK. It was funny, sort of obnoxious, and oblivious, but the end was hopeful. It was just so sad.
"To Kill a Mockingbird" and "Freakonomics" are two of my favorite books now. Boo Radley is the bomb. I wish I was Boo Radley. That book was sad, too.
Peter Abrahams is awesome. His Echo Falls series is pretty dang cool.
Those dang sighs and groans.
I think I'm seeing "Kung Fu Panda" with my brothers today. Sweet.

Patterned bras!

Dude, who knew bra shopping was so fun???
I get excited about shopping at Wal-Mart. How white trash is that?
The Wal-Mart greeters are still friendly, but they've changed the color scheme and the arrangement of all the departments, so it was difficult trying to find the underwear, hygiene, and candy when they're all mixed up.
Wal-Mart's McDonald's doesn't have a very good dollar menu. Dang.
One thing's for sure, Tie should have been a sled dog.
Argh, she keeps running at cars, though. It scares the crap out of me.
But Nathan found this really cool neighborhood behind the school, and it's scenic and all my friends live there, so Tie and I walk there all the time now.
The revote results came today, and they were EXACTLY THE SAME!! I was so relieved.
Okay, I'm watching "High School Musical 2" on my computer, and Ryan is wearing a really sparkly outfit. -_- Taylor's wearing some weird belted minisuit thingy.
"Aloha, everybody, my name is Tiki!"
"Did you know childs turn to adults?"
That wasn't from the movie, lol.

Go Straight To Jail. Do Not Pass Go. Do Not Collect $200.

I just spent an hour and a half playing cars with little kids, and then having them send me to jail.
Summer small groups at church are working out REALLY well so far. We met some cool families. They all liked Tie a lot. The little kids liked Luke, and he was nice to them, and I let them change his water.
Mmm, ice cream.
"Uno" is a stupid game.
So my dad's dreams finally came true: I like jazz.
Mr. Faxon dragged us all over to North Thurston to play at a jazz festival, even though we were the only ones from our district to attend. Not weird. But it was fun and there were a lot of good bands (even one that played "Let's Groove", which is my favorite song!!!). The Seattle Women's Jazz Orchestra played, and they were pretty spectacular, but the BEST part was going to the Olympia Farmer's Market for lunch. Paul, Alexis, Sarah, and I got German-American food, and I ate all of Sarah's curly fries and mozzerella sticks, but she ate all my ice cream, and then we were all too full....
...and happened to pass a bakery full of the most delicious desserts known to man.
Drat. Drat that stupid ice cream and it's Caramel Caribou goodness.
Talent show, talent show.
I hate the talent show.
