Real men have eunuchs dispose of their enemies.

I'M ADDICTED TO COMCAST!!!!
Seriously, it's fantastic.
Who knew we could load songs on iTunes in less than an hour?
Or watch Youtube videos without it pausing all the blessed time?
Or load games and web pages like THAT!?
Finally, we've entered the 21st century.
I'm free from the curse of dial-up forever.
AND I made the most perfect chocolate chip cookies EVER.
I didn't chill the dough or melt the butter, which helped.
Oh, and having all the ingredients.
I forgot to add eggs until AFTER adding about half the flour, but that seemed to help.
Oh, and I used parchment paper.
And then I waited until the pans were completely cool to add more cookies.
They turned out GREAT.
Like BETTER THAN MRS. FIELDS.
Who is a big fat liar, it turns out.
"Clue" is one of the funniest movies I've ever seen.
Almost as funny as "One Night with the King"!
Amanda HATED IT and didn't want to watch it, but when we did she was laughing as hard as the rest of us.
Yet she still claims to hate it.
Communism! Homosexuals! Call girls! Murder! Blackmail! Intrigue! Multiple endings! Tim Curry!
HOW CAN YOU NOT LIKE THIS MOVIE?
Ugh, if someone spells alternative ONE MORE TIME...
I'm not sure I liked "House of Leaves". I finally finished it, except for the stupid letters, which I WON'T READ. I'm done with that book for now. It's bad enough that it's hard to SLEEP.
But the monster turned out to be not a monster at all, but the house itself, which makes me feel a little better.
But then what was wrong with Zampano? And Johnny? They died of paranoia? WHAT WAS THE DEAL?
And it was so sad, the story about the baby, and Navy and Karen, even though that was supposed to be a "happy" ending. Sad stuff.
FLASH FLASH CAR CRASH. Ha. AFI.

Brideshead revisited...again

I can just hear a certain pastor's favorite joke, "The Department of Redundancy Department".
A&E said "Brideshead Revisited" wasn't that good, and I'd heard that the relationship of Sebastian and Charles was super flamboyant compared to the book.
It really wasn't that bad.
Charles and Sebastian kissed once, and Charles wasn't even that into it.
Sebastian and Anthony were apparently a couple (? not sure if that's true) before Charles showed up, and within 10 minutes of the film's beginning, we get a kiss from the couple.
I freaked out, more because THEY DIDN'T DATE IN THE BOOK.
It was still a little like, "Hellooooo, Anthony, good to see you...even though you have a moustache!"
Seriously, the moustache grossed me out. I'd pictured sideburns, not a moustache.
What bugged me was that Julia kept popping up and made this weird love triangle between Charles, Sebastian, and herself.
Ugh, I hated her. She couldn't act, and she wasn't even cute!
AND IT WASN'T IN THE BOOK!
Julia and Charles didn't have this epic love that stretched across time. He wasn't interested in her while he was with Sebastian. They didn't have this cutesy forbidden love that "wasn't meant to be"!
Ugh, it was so stupid and disgusting to watch. I guess it worked out pretty well for the director, since Charles' "betrayal" drove Sebastian to drink.
Since the book didn't give a reason, they couldn't leave it all vague. No, it had to be cinematic and theatrical.
Ridiculous.
Other than that, it stayed pretty true to the book.
Emma Thompson was CRAZY. She should play a psycho more often.
My mouth dropped open when I saw Lord Marchmain.
Because I hadn't expected Dumbledore.
And he's not allowed to do any movies besides Harry Potter, of course.
When it came to Catholicism, it seemed ironic that Sebastian, the homosexual dipsomaniac, came the closest. He admitted he needed God's love. Whether or not he found it...he did live with those monks. Cordelia basically said that was good enough, since it was a kind of faith, which went against everything her religion had taught her.
I never thought of Cordelia as stupid, the way the movie portrayed her. But oh well.
Bridey was perfect: ignorant, rude, determined, etc.
When Sebastian moved to Morocco...
It was a poignant scene in the movie, and I was too busy thinking how hot he looked.
Then I started to tear up, because Charles was crying whilst keeping a stiff upper lip. Those British.
It was weird how the movie ended without hope. Sure, Charles learned to RESPECT the altar and the faith, but he walked away after, probably never to be seen again. He just faded away, like the Indians in "Lagaan". Wow. Talk about crappy endings.
And now dinner.
How is it that it's hard to articulate in words what something means to you, but it's easy to write it down...in words?
Doesn't make sense.
Because it was hard to describe the movie to my mom, but if she'd asked me to write it down...
Obviously a career in public speaking isn't in my future. Oh darn.

What IS my butt telling the world?

Awww, it's freakish.
I'm laidback, but uptight?
Tyler ate glue the other day.
He took a huge bite of an almond-scented Elmer's stick.
And nearly threw up.
Sometimes I wonder about him...
We listened to random screamo and metal bands today.
Like THE CLASSIC CRIME.
Which is really funny for some strange reason.
I sort of spaced out all week and haven't been paying attention in most of my classes.
Which could be a bad thing.
But I finished "Brideshead Revisited" just the other day, and it was so worth it.
And all of Evelyn Waugh's other novels have received high praise, so this might be the summer of classic literature.
Followed by the annual Harry Potter binge.
Evelyn Waugh was a Catholic. Huh. Charles Ryder displayed such a convincing disdain for it.
Charles and Sebastian were gay together, that's for darn sure.
Anthony Blance was hilarious. "Don't be a tease, Toni, buy me a drink."
He would just randomly pop up with his boyfriend of the moment, analyze people, and disappear again.
Aloysius. "He was portrayed by a teddy bear named Delicatessen."
Once the TV series came out, it was suddenly cool to carry teddy bears around again.
I love Lady Gaga. She'll just do something ridiculous, but stand by it.
"Yeah. I carry around a giant teacup. What are you doing to do about it?"

She's my best friend's girl

Yeah, she's Jesse's girl!
I know, two completely different songs.
Alex Sanchez is all right.
"Rainbow Boys" was better than his other book.
About the 8th grade kid in California.
Who couldn't speak Spanish.
And fell in love with a boy.
Who was too scared to come out of the closet.
And made fun of another boy.
Who was probably gay.
But his best friend was in love with them.
And SHE didn't want to believe he was gay.
It was one of those novels that was like, "Ho hum, that was a good book."
I don't know why "Boy Meets Boy" was hailed as a revolutionary novel.
It wasn't that great.
Nearly everyone else I know that has read that book said the exact same thing.
They all said, "Well, it was okay..."
But it didn't deserve all 500 million of the book awards it got.
David Levithan is way overrated.
"Starbucks Boy": cutest short story ever written. Romantic, imaginative, etc.
Every other story he wrote: LAME
As writers mature, they're supposed to become BETTER writers.
It just seems like David Levithan has gotten worse.
Every time I think the drama's over, it starts up again, with yet another tearful weekend followed by a week of the silent treatment.
But I think it's officially over.
At least I'm making it official.
So everything is back to kind of sort of normal.
Or at least our interpretation.
But if it starts up again....
California is going to suck.

What a dreadful prospect

What has poor Armand done to be condemnded to matrimony?
Why did the Day of Silence T-shirts have to be yellow?
The Day of Silence itself was good.
I didn't talk until lunch. And I sort of stopped being silent during 5th period.
But I got the point across. Sort of.
It was so stupid how many people were like, "I talked! I can't stay silent again all day! I'm such a failure!"
They could have always been, "Oh darn. Well, here I go again." There's no rule that says if you break the protest, you can't take part in it again. It's pretty hard to do anyway, keeping completely silent all day long.
Apparently some people got a lot of crap for doing it. I didn't get any, except for my math teacher jokingly saying he couldn't hear me when I gave the answers on my hands.
But I didn't get any homophobic comments, like a couple people did.
One girl got called a fag, which doesn't even make sense.
I met a couple of bisexuals who were like, "Aagh, I hate super religious people who make rude comments! It's not like two men can't be happy."
But he apologized when I was like, "Well...I'm a Christian."
Even though what he's saying is technically true.
But I mentioned what the Bible does say about man + man = happiness.
Because, even though the Bible thumpers aren't exactly nice about the Day of Silence, they're right when they say it's wrong, according to the Bible.
But then we talked about loving your neighbor and such.
And he'd never heard that part before.
Hmmm....
I wasn't the only Christian at the party, or the only one participating, which was nice.
A bunch of my Christian friends were either like, "I tolerate homosexuality, but I can't condone it," so they didn't participate.
And a couple were like, "No one should ever be made to feel worthless. I'm doing this for all people being bullied."
And a couple were like, "I feel REALLY strongly about this, so I'm going to participate."
We ended the day with a delicious cake Ed made, homemade frosting and everything.
And that was that.
"Hello Dolly" is a great movie and all, but I had forgotten how long it is.
Two hours of singing and ten minute dance sequences.
At least there wasn't any trippy ballet interludes with Gene Kelly and Cyd Charisse, or worse: Jud, Laurey, and Curly.
Not that those aren't loads of fun, or anything.
Ew, my dad played Jud in high school. How gross is that?
Pre-nose job Barbra Streisand is somewhat of a babe.
"Out There" reminds me so much of "Wall-E". William and I were singing along, and my dad kept asking, "How do you know this?"
Please. I only watched this movie five times in first grade.
Ew, Walter Matthau is so lame. And sort of tone deaf. And they had no chemistry. She was much too sparkly and fabulous for him.
Tommy Tune is ginormous!!!!
Speaking of music, I got out "Letters to the President" and started listening to it again.
Oh, the memories.
And those fantastic summers where we went to concerts all the time and screamed the lyrics to "Sadie Hawkins Dance".
That might have just been one summer.
And probably not that fantastic.
But the nostalgia made me a little nauseous.

PG-13 is the new R.

Meaning my life is PG, thank you.
Wow. Youth Group. Fun.
We got into a rather heated discussion over whether or not gay men should be pastors.
And it got ugly quite fast.
It all started when this one girl asked whether or not a girl could be a youth pastor, which brought as right on back to 1 Timothy 2:12, a verse I'd had Sunday School teachers dispute over in past years.
"Oh, well, women can cut their hair as short as they want it, but they can't lead in the church!"
Why would you disregard one verse and adamantly preach another?
Argh. Sorry. But it still bugs me.
Anyway, we sort of skirted past the "women leading the church" issue, when another girl asked if a gay man could be a pastor.
Her reasoning: He wasn't a woman, and God was all-loving and all-forgiving, so surely he could look past his gayness and let this man lead.
That's when all hell broke loose.
Some of the more opinionated people took charge in explaining (rather passionately) what the Bible said about homosexuality.
One of the not-so-sensitive (ahem) homeschoolers BERATED this girl for not knowing all that the Scripture said about this issue.
A few people (including myself) tried to speak up and got knocked out the way.
Some of the more neutral and quieter people got very uncomfortable and hid in the background, waiting for our hour to be over.
And then our leader decided to read a very long passage about not just homosexuality, but all sin, and how sinners would be dealt with if they did not repent.
You could see the girl getting madder and madder until she just stopped listening.
Then she left.
AAAAAAAAAGH of course this is the ONE issue I have trouble with, and I wanted to talk the girl personally, because, with my big ego, I was convinced I could get her to understand without being agressive and shoving Scripture down her throat.
But then some people accused me of being too soft and PC, and told me that we can't always spoonfeed people, and that they have to know the truth, and God's word will always be hard for some people to swallow.
And I don't disagree with Janine reading the Scripture. But after all that had been said already, a reading of the entire first chapter of Romans didn't seem like a good idea to me, and just made things worse.
And yeah, this is her issue. And yeah, Christians are pretty good at offending people and sometimes it's necessary if we're going to stand up for what we believe in.
But some of what was said was NOT necessary.
Gah.
So. That's fun. We're going to WSU, and hopefully won't get ticketed for not having snow tires.
It's just slush. I think we'll be okay.
But I'm pretty pumped. It's going to be freezing cold and my brother is going to be busy all weekend, but we get to eat out, so who needs him?
I just want school to start up again.
If only jazz band wasn't so early....

WE WANT YOU!

Wow. It has been an insane week.
The teachers decided to bombard us with random projects and essays, so I've been really busy.
And I got sick. Again.
The second my teacher mentioned a virus going around the school, I started sneezing my brains out.
Thanks, Mr. Hurd.
Wow. No wonder the "Rent" movie flopped. I saw a recording of the last performance last night and...wow. Coarse, yeah. My parents were flinching at every F-word and put their foot down on watching the "sex scene". (I watched it later and it's a little offensive, but there is no nudity, just sexual dialogue. And I got what Jonathan Larson was trying to show. These three couples' relationships have been strained recently and a night of bad sex is the last straw for all of them. And I'm still the same no-sex-before-marriage person I was before, so while I don't condone that, I understand it. My mom thought it was showing how all the relationships were based only on sex, but I disagree.) And it was so much more powerful, open, and raw than the movie ever could have been (no offense, Chris Columbus. Nice try.). Mark was an actual, 3-dimensional character, not just a background image. Benny seemed like a worthwhile person who'd bought in the system, but still loved his friends more than anything and would have done anything for them. And Roger, my least favorite character from the movie, was less of an arrogant, angsty jerk and more of a human being. You could see that he had trouble opening up, was scared of what the future would bring, and your heart broke when you saw him lose the one thing (or person) that made him so happy.
And, since it was the last performance, the original cast came up on the stage afterward and everyone was bawling through a rendition of "Seasons of Love". That's when I lost it.
And as much as Jonathan Larson hated Christians, the church, and religion, his parents were some of the nicest, most open, and loving "religious" people ever. It was great to see them with all the cast members, regardless of sexuality or whatnot. And they were so proud of their son and it sucks to think he never got to see how many people he reached with his musical.
Dustin Lance Black's acceptance speech for "Milk" last night reminded me of the musical, because he was gay, and had always hoped that he would one day fall in love and get married. But the part that hit me the most was when he gave a shout out to all the gay and lesbian teens and told them that they were beautiful and that God did, in fact, love them. And I just started crying, because it's true, but a lot of Christians don't think that, and even those that do have a hard time showing it, because the media assumes that if we hold our stance on gay marriage, we somehow hate gays, but it's not true.
And, just like it's possible for Christians to love non-Christians, it's possible for Christians (or regular people) to be gay. It's not right, I do think it's a sin, but they're not faking their love.
Just saying.
Phew. Now to rant about something else.
Ugh, like "Twice Upon a Marigold". "Once Upon a Marigold" has been my favorite book for 6 years, and when I saw the sequel at Borders, I just about had a stroke. Then I read it, and while it was okay, it seemed a little pointless. Jean Farris only wrote the book because fans wanted to know what happened next, and I felt like she didn't really answer that question, which was irritating. I never wanted "Once Upon a Marigold" to end; I couldn't wait for "Twice Upon a Marigold" to end.
Oh, and I am in love with Peter Abrahams. His Echo Falls series is the bomb. It's hard for me to put down his books.
Laaaaame two of my best friends started dating. They're a good fit for each other, and they seem really happy, but it is SO awkward to hang out with them as a couple. It was even more awkward when I was the third wheel at a sort-of date. It was like they were more comfortable with me there, but they didn't actually want me there. They didn't want me to leave, but they weren't going to make it easy. So I just left.
And I've noticed a bunch of my girlfriend's think is totally okay behavior, to invite friends along on their dates. WHAT THE HECK?? One of my friends kept avoiding dates with her boyfriend, stating, "It would be too awkward if it was just us."
??????
SO?????? Isn't that the point? "I'd be more comfortable if you were there."
??????
I'M NOT YOUR BOYFRIEND.
Yeah, fun weekend. "Rent" was so worth it, though. Why did it have to close???

Aha, education!!

You Are a Striped Sweater

You are a bouncy, lively, and even a little raucous.

You love life loudly, and everyone is invited to your party.

You are very hyper, and sometimes you act without thinking.

And while your impetuousness gets you in trouble, your charm gets you out of trouble.

Josh Harris convert!! WOO!
And I don't agree with ALL he has to say about courtship, but he has great ideas about relationships in general, especially in regards to sexual purity and gender roles.
He says he believes in traditional gender roles, but then ELABORATED, and explained that though men and women are DIFFERENT, and that women should be submissive, that doesn't mean women are under men or mean less than men.
Men and women are EQUAL, but have different ROLES.
Which pretty much explains everything, and I mean everything.
Francesca Lia Block writes so beautifully. Her writing is emotional, profound, and out there.
THEY'RE MAKING A MOVIE OUT OF WEETZIE BAT!!
NO WAY!
Excuse me while I hyperventilate.
Another Weetzie Bat book I haven't read? Hmmm....
AAAGH lunch was awkward for a long period of time when Kevin brought up gay marriage and seemed to imply that he thought gay people in general ridiculous.
Which was awkward because Janessa was sitting at the table and got sort of POed.
Sort of? She was LIVID.
It didn't end well.

Quit trashing my book

So sayeth the Lord.
Stop having kids, Angelina Jolie!
Poor Brad. 6 kids and another on the way? No wonder they're not married.
Lisa Miller. Yes, it DOES mention lesbian sex in the Bible.
And it specifically states that marriage should between "man and woman".
Just because Abraham and Jacob had multiple wives doesn't mean it was okay.
Many figures in the Bible were FAR from perfect (*cough cough* David *cough cough*). He had an extra-marital affair and we KNOW that's not right. Polygamy was a cultural thing, not a biblical thing.
And of COURSE Jesus would be reaching out to lesbians and gays. He loved EVERYONE and even hung out with tax-collectors and prostitutes, who were seen as "unclean".
But just because he LOVED them didn't mean he AGREED with their lifestyle.
So just because Jesus was a nice person and people in the Bible doesn't mean you have a good pro-gay marriage argument.
2.5%!!! Woo, we're rare!
Black, blue, and silver.
Mypersonality.info is pretty intense. Kind of cool.
Just like Peter Jackson.

Monday, November 03, 2008

That's not cool. Shut your foo.

How does that even happen? Why would she be okay with that?
You're not even REMOTELY romantically interested in each other...and yet?
Just a small problem.
Anyway.
Crap. The election is tomorrow.
Either way, we're screwed.

We Can't Predict Who You Voted For

According to our quiz, there's a 45% chance you voted for Obama.

But that means there's an 55% chance you voted for McCain.

You aren't very typical. You tend to be independent, and your vote is highly coveted.

While we can't predict how you voted, there's a good chance you voted for the winner!

"Peter Pan" is really a very depressing book. Disney completely romanticized it and makes it seem like a wonderful children's story, but it's really not.
I'm not saying it's not a good book; it is. It's just really sad and violent and it's not something I'd read to my kids at bedtime.
They kill all the Indians! ALL OF THEM! IT'S A BLOODY MASSACRE!
THEY GOT TIGER LILY!
And Peter Pan never grows up. We all knew that was coming of course, but he completely forgets the people dearest to him, like Tinkerbell (who dies), Hook (his nemesis), the Lost Boys, and Wendy.
When Wendy grows up, he befriends her daughter Jane and takes her to Neverland.
When Jane grows up, he befriends her daughter Maragaret and takes HER to Neverland.
It's a neverending cycle.
I don't know. It kind of sucks for the girls, who "love" Peter in more ways than one, but find that he's too young and immature to get that.
Then, as they continue to mature and age, they have to leave him behind in Neverland.
My least favorite part is that Wendy, John, Michael, and the lost boys have all these wonderful adventures with fairies and pirates and what not...
...and then return to England, grow up, and live perfectly ordinary lives.
You would think that going to Neverland would make life...I don't know...worth living.
Kind of messes you up a little bit.

Tinglies in that silly place

"It's the most horrible feeling! It tickles in all the wrong ways!"
"This wouldn't happen if you weren't so fat."
That's an annoying feeling. It feels pretty good, but when it comes, you're like, "Oh no, not that again."
Sometimes I wonder if guys and girls are REALLY meant to be together. Because guys anger girls by being weird and not communicating, and girls anger guys by being clingy and needy and OVERcommunicating, and you never really get a rhythm going.
But then girl-girl relationships usually involve INTENSE jealousy and guy-guy relationships lack commitment (in most cases, anyway).
So it's like we should all become amoebas and reproduce asexually.
Seriously. The world would be SO much better off.

You Should Maybe Be Allowed to Vote

You got 10/15 questions correct.

You're somewhat in the know, but you're not as informed as you think you are.

Your political information is a little old or incorrect.

Consider studying up a bit before you cast you vote! You want to make sure you know where you stand.

Trust me, I know where I stand.

You Should Be a Ghost

You are seen as shy and introverted. You like to blend in... or disappear.

You see Halloween as the day you can sit back and enjoy what other people are doing.

You don't scare all that easily on Halloween. If anything, you tend to scare people.

You don't try to be scary, but you do tend to lurk around and catch people by surprise.

Ha, that's funny.
Oh dear, that is...NOT that comforting.
Don't you hate if when your mom buys tons of delicious food and won't let you eat any of it?
I'm sort of pumped for Homecoming. The game, not the dance. Our football team is going to lose, but we're playing "I Saw Her Standing There"!! Yeah!!
If someone does something inconsequential and somehow gets in trouble for it, that's unjust.
But when they do it again just to prove a point, they deserve it.
But that's just me.

The Epic of Gilgamesh

Ooooooooooh. I know I failed that history test. I don't think anybody studied, or even read the chapter.
At least Mr. Hurd gave us freebies.
Tyler looks surprisingly good with his head shaved. And the seedlings are really soft.
It's kind of like he's always had a shaved head.
Though he does sort of look like a skinhead.
Ugh, people who think they're utterly superior bug me.
I guess that's why I won't be going to UW.
It's just annoying when my friends start acting that way.
And I know I act that way about some things.
I just never knew how annoying it could be.
Youth group SUCKS. It's like everytime I go is some new drama.
So I'm minding my own business and I get hit in the face with a ball, hitting me square in the nose and popping both lenses out of my glasses.
Nice, guys. Real nice.
So I start crying and Sierra had to fix my glasses and some guy (whose name I never learned) got me some ice.
That set the stage for a wonderful evening.
And my nose still hurts. At first, my mom told me it wasn't broken, but now she's saying it might be.
Ugh. All I know is it's even larger than normal.
My dad was listening to a pastor on the radio talk about homosexuality, and he supposedly "drove his point home" by stating, "Homosexuality was a non-issue until the Bible came out."
And that was supposedly a REALLY good point that showed how wrong homosexuality really is.
?????
Seriously?? If I were a non-Christian, that would just convince me that the Bible is stupid and homophobic and God is screwed up.
I think my dad wants grandchildren. He snatches up every baby he sees.
Well, no, he doesn't, because that would be weird.
But when there's a baby at our house, he's like, "Baby! *scoop*" and holds it for 12 hours.
Matt was pregnant, but he gave birth and someone stepped on the baby. OUR baby.
Then he kept sucking on that stupid smoothie.
"Can I have some brown sugar Pop Tarts?"
"Cherry?"
"You're going to ruin your life! RUIN IT!"

Crazy things that Tyler has done

Because he's so narcissistic.
Tony asked me a very good question the other day: if guys think lesbians are hot, do girls think that about gay guys?
The answer: A resounding NO.
And it has nothing to do with homophobia or anything like that.
We just...don't find gay guys that attractive.
Or at least gay guys together. There are definitely some cute gay guys.
And girls don't have the same one-track mind as guys.
YAY, someone replied to my "Rent" idea!!!
At least one person cares.
AAAAAH Maricel took this cool personality test, and then let me and Tyler take it, and it's pretty dang accurate. Maricel is white (the peacemaker), I'm blue (forgot what that stands for), and Tyler is red (the power builder).
And it's on the internet!! Too cool.
Blue blue blue blue blue.

What Your Burger Says About You

You are very gluttonous. Even if you're full, you'll still clear your plate.

You are likely a fairly picky eater. And you're secretly a little squeamish about some foods.

You are bold and resolute in your choices. You don't back down, and you aren't afraid to go at something full force.

You have trouble making decisions quickly. Everything looks good to you... especially at a restaurant.

You are creative, open minded, and friendly. You are interested in all types of food and new dishes.

Wow today is super accurate quiz today.
Mr. Anspach came up to me with an interesting proposition: would I like to switch around my 4th and 5th period in order to be in French 3 and 4?
I almost said 'yes' immediately, but that would mean switching out of 5th period Biology, which I really enjoy.
I'd also have to switch to 2nd lunch and then I'd never see Janessa, Matt, Kay, or Klinker.
Ooooh. What a conundrum.

Your Hair Should Be Brown

You are an intelligent, well respected person.

You are very confident. You take yourself seriously, and other people take you seriously too.

You are a good leader, and you can be trusted with someone's life.

You motivate people well, and you command respect easily.

You are competent, successful, and organized. You can't stand chaos.

Some people mistake you for being cold, calculating, or elitist.

Practically Sarah Palin

You Should Live in Alaska

If you don't want to live in Alaska, you might also consider:

Indiana

Mississippi

Nebraska

New Hampshire

South Carolina

Hey, my grandparents live in South Carolina!!
Ugh, "7th Heaven" is the worst show EVER!!
First they say that you shouldn't have sex before marriage.
The family in the show is, of course, Christian.
But then when Lucy finds out Kevin might have slept with another girl and wants to break up with him, that's frowned upon??
And how did the mom study EVERYTHING in college? She used to smoke pot??
Oh boy. I bet THAT was a fun episode.
Oh, how wonderful Matt is for dating a disabled person.
Correction: she's DEAF.
Ugh, hate these people.
In the episode I watched today, Simon had a BABY??
And to play the part of the edgy teenage father, he wore a leather jacket and a *gasp* HOOP EARRING!
Matt married Sarah after one date??? This show is screwed up!!
And I hate how they want to be all wise and have a moral to each show, and cover topics such as voting and racism, because those are prominent in America today, but they've never mentioned homosexuality, affirmative action, or abortion.
Heh. I could imagine an affirmative action episode.
Rev. Camden: Well, LaShawn, I decided to hire Connor instead.
LaShawn: RACIST!
Rev. Camden: What? No, no!
LaShawn: I'm calling the NAACP!
Rev. Camden: We can work this out. I am VERY open-minded about colored-people.
And the moral of the story would be that everyone should be able to get a job, regardless of color. And Rev. Camden would end up hiring LaShawn as well as Connor.
That was pretty much the exact plot of the racism episode. "They've written something obscene about African-Americans on my car!"
Ha, Emma and I went with the rest of the band kids to see the midnight premiere of "Eagle Eye".
Shia LaBoeuf. Worst actor EVER. But not as bad as Michelle Monahan.
Spoiler warning:
Eagle Eye is a computer. The government screwed themselves over. It's possible to be hit by a powerline and explode. Oh, it's also possible to get shot 3 times in the chest and survive with only a broken arm.
And you won't get arrested if you try to kill the president for a greater good.
So lame.
I finally finished "Bass Ackwards and Belly Up". GREAT book. SO much better than "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants". :P

Don't ask, don't tell

I wasn't sure what that meant at first.
So I retook the McCain/Obama quiz, and I am 76% for McCain and 24% for Obama.
Tie and I went on a walk with Alexis and her dogs. Cosmo was there, too, and Tie tried to eat him, but Isabel rescued him and there was a death match.
BEAT DOWN!
SCHOOL SUPPLY SHOPPING!!! One of the best days of the year. But I really didn't need that much, so I just bought some binders and a couple T-shirts.
Where are all the composition notebooks??? I couldn't find them!!
There was a T-shirt that said "Vader for Prez '08" but I couldn't find one in my size. >:(
I would totally vote for Vader.
Take a ride on the dark side.
Eeeee, tomorrow is going to be so cool!
Spoken like a true sophomore, I know, but seriously!! I get to start AND end the day with a cool class.
Oh, but I do have PE first thing.
And the PE teacher is a psycho.
-_- Oh well, at least all my band buddies are in it.
"The Big Bang Theory" is pretty much the best show on television.
Better than "High School Musical: Get in the Picture", anyway. Too much drama. There are some pretty fine guys on it, though. STAN IS NOT ONE OF THEM!! James is in the chorus. :(
Ugh, and whenever he has a lead part and he messes up, the faculty excuses it because he's smooth, or whatever.
Isaiah is the MAN!
But Sheldon on Big Bang Theory pretty much makes my day, even though he's such a jerk. And he wears funny pants.
"I'm going to collaborate with you!"
And Daniel Kim got a girl at 15-years-old, so they're all jealous.
The first season came out on DVD today!!! WANT!

Life lessons from "Matlock".

Aaargh, my dad and I are going at it again.
Well, that's not true, because we haven't fought yet, but he's sort of pressuring me about worship team and music in general.
For instance, he thinks I'm not serious about bass (guilty: I'd love to be good at it, but I don't want to put in the effort to play more than roots of chords) and says if I ever want to play in church, I'm going to have to join the youth worship team.
So basically, he wants me to join a cult.
That's PRACTICALLY what it is!!
Okay, and he did point out that compared to the youth band at our last church, this one seems quite tame and is probably more structured, but from what I've heard, the people in it are rather clique-y and, what's more, the music they play SUCKS.
Only I am tempted to join because John is in it now and I'd get to hang with him, and there's this whole jealousy factor with William because he plays bass a whole BUNCH with them and I feel that I'm just as good as he is.
But I don't know why my dad is so ADAMANT about me joining them.
I'm sort of getting mixed messages from him music-wise, because a few months ago he was trying to dissuade me from ever playing bass in the worship team.
Then, in the car on the way back home from Pullman, I asked about music scholarships in general terms and my dad basically told me I'd never, ever get one unless I pulled an Amby and joined a million freaking symphonies and majored in music.
WHICH I'M NOT INTERESTED IN DOING! It's just that I love music and we can't pay for college, and Mr. Villiers told me in 7th grade that I could PROBABLY get a trombone scolarship if I kept playing.
WHICH I INTEND TO DO!!
So who's right here??
And now there's some nonsense about lessons (for trombone or bass...or both), and I was always one of those big-headed losers who thought I was too good for lessons.
Maybe so for trombone (or maybe I'm just stuck-up), but I'm thinking I could definitely use a little help on bass.
Good news, though: Dean is finally letting me play in the horn section.
I'm sort of offended, though, because the only reason he's letting me play is "the new music isn't too difficult".
If you really think that badly of my playing, I'd rather you left me out of the worship team for good.
-_-
I'm sort of addicted to Sims 2 now, thanks to my "Rent" Sims.
Maureen and Joanne were my first gay couple.
Although Collins and Angel got married before they did (Maureen and Joanne are still engaged).
Alison (Benny's wife) just had a baby, but her dad (the baby's grandpa) is going to die soon if I don't fill up his aspiration meter, which I've purposefully neglected because all he wants to do is buy expensive things.
Haha, they named the kid Evita.
Now Mark is dating some random girl (though he and Maureen are still in love - oops), Mimi has ye tto move in and meet Roger, and Benny is going to take over the business world.

No, YOU'RE the bestest!

I've read almost 3 Madison Finns in the past 12 hours. Sort of overloaded on friend drama, boys, phrases like "cooler than cool" and "sweeter than sweet", and IM talk (OMG! DTS?).
"The Baby Borrowers" was good last night, but Luke's mom was such a loser. Sasha got frustrated with the baby, but she didn't hurt him or anything. Sure, she could've dealt with it differently, but Luke's mom was like, "Oh, Luke kept crying, so you didn't do anything right and you obviously weren't trying. You were the worst parents of all."
She obviously hasn't met Daton and Morgan.
So Sasha flipped out and started cussing that mom out and I felt so bad for her. The whole point of the evaluation is to have the parents tell the kids what they did wrong and right and give them CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM and ADVICE for next time. Luke's mom did neither. So my dad was like, "Sasha shouldn't have yelled at her," and I was like, "Didn't you hear ANYTHING the mom even said?" Sure, she shouldn't have yelled either, but she was right to object to the mom's ridiculously unfair judgements.
Austin turns out to be a good dad, even if he doesn't like kids. He put the twins in time out and they told him they were done crying. The parents really liked himm, too. Kelly is SOOOO annoying. He should dump her.
Alicea turned out to be a good mom, too, even after last week, and Isaiah, the kid she had, was SOOOO CUTE. Then Alicea was crying because she missed her mom and Isaiah was like, "She's coming back in a minute. She's just getting ready." It made me cry. Then Isaiah continued to do cute things, like go bowling, jump on the bed, and ask Corey if he was "the best guy".
I get how Morgan feels about her mom and everything, but she was kind of super annoying this time around. She did good with the older daughter, but not so great with Colton, who peed on the couch. And she's sort of a slacker.
I still think Sasha and Jordan are the best couple.
Kelsey and Sean are getting better. Sean is less of a jerk now, and he seems to really bond with all of the kids. Kelsey is so annoying, though. She's really needy and passive and stuff.
Austin is passive, too, which he attributes to his Southern upbringing. Whatever, just tell your girlfriend to shut up. Or dump her.
I just read "Kissing Kate", a book I'd contemplated reading since 6th grade, and it was good (Lauren Myracle's first book, and it was better than all her others), but I just wanted Lissa to get what she wanted. So it wasn't a SAD ending, but it wasn't a fully HAPPY ending, like with Hilary Frank's "I Can't Tell You". The main character was happy, but he hadn't gotten the girl. :(
AAAAH I also found Nick Hornby's "A Long Way Down", which I've been wanting to read since 7th grade when Mrs. Moon reccomended it to us. I really CANNOT wait to read it.
But now I'm on a Harry Potter binge. So far I'm on the second book, which is taking me a while to finish, but I got #'s 4 and 5 at the library in PAPERBACK!! SWEET!!! I wasn't so lucky with #6, but you can't have everything.
I also just read "Unbelievable". I accidentally saw the surprise ending when I was flipping through to find out how many pages were in it, so I knew who A was about halfway through the book. Oh well. It's the best one in the series so far. There were a lot of twists. Sara Shepard might be a LITTLE overrated, but she's definitely a good writer. Who knew Hannah would become human? Aria I think is my favorite, though. I kept cheering for Emily and Maya, but that fell through. :( Then Trista was there for a little while...so it was all very confusing.
It annoys me, though, that Republicans are always rich, white homophobes in those books. Yes, there are SOME like that, but it's such a stereotype and it's pretty offensive to read about. Yes, offensive. They're often sort of "religious", too, and you know what that means. It's just annoying.

Tell the boys where to find my body

So I knew Freshman was going to suck.
But it made me really depressed when it did.
It's just so stupid!! It's nothing but a dance in your SCHOOL CAFETERIA, for crying out loud, and all the girls are wearing slutty dresses that they'll probably never look at again and the guys are bored and don't want to dance, and the DJ is a HORNY PERV who deserves to go to jail for ogling teenage girls AND playing crappy music.
And I don't know why Alie and Mikey came with us because they didn't want to dance and felt like being alone, so Amanda hung out with them a lot, so what was the point of coming together??
A super bad sign that the night was going to be bad was Alie's lack of ticket. Amanda had told me Ms. Wales had told her that Alie could buy one at the dance. It's sort of my fault because I doubted that, and I KNEW all of the dance rules, but I went along with it, so we got to the dance, and Alie and I got in MAJOR trouble with both principals, but at least they let us in (after making Alie fork over $12).
And the weird thing?
All that is apparently rooted in self-esteem issues I had in PRESCHOOL.
Speaking of that, it does bring up some interesting questions?
What makes people "popular"? Is it like a gene? And why, even when I'm in a freaking DRESS, do I still feel like a man compared to all my girl friends? And why do guys suck copious amounts of balls??
I now know what makes people gay. Woooo.

Cotton: The Next Generation of Hobbits

I'm addicted to the way I feel when I think of you, WOOOAH!!
WHEN I'M ALL ALONE, I JUST CAN'T STOP MYSEEEEELF!!
And I don't know the rest of the lyrics!
The morning paper.
Yeahs.
This middle school band came to party with us today, and they were pretty good, but Mr. Faxon wanted us interspersed (sp?) throughout their ginormous band (Us: 20, Them: 40), so Daniel and I sat together, because it was awkward otherwise.
We talked about all manner of things, such as cotton, "The King and I", "Pirates of the Caribbean", and other things.
6 200's! A little hard, but not TOO hard. Only when I tried my hardest, it wasn't hard enough, because I couldn't get my times to fall between 35 and 40 seconds. I'm averaging 43, and my time yesterday was 41.27. AAARGH. My best is 36.27!!!
Take one for the team, you all know what I mean. ^_^
And I'm so sorry, but not really. Tell the boys where to fiiiind my body. New York eyes, Chicago thighs, pushed up the window to kiss you off.
Dance tracks!!!
So our first meet yesterday was cool, but it was 40 degrees outside, and it's not that fun running in short shorts and a flimsy jersey in 40 DEGREE WEATHER!!1
I love this song!!!
Yeah. Coach Thorniley made me run 4 events, so I ended up doing the 200 and 60 as well as the 100, then did shotput to round it out.
Shotput at a tri-meet SUCKS.
I wanna dance. I'm going to freshmen with Amanda. Screw boys.
Today was the Day of Silence for the all the gay, lesbian, bi, and transexual people who feel discrimination. I took part in it for about three hours with all of my friends, but after a while we couldn't do it and had to talk.
So I felt a little bad, but we did "tell" people what we were doing and they were cool with it.
Except my dad definitely did NOT participate in the Day of Silence, and he not because he hates LGBT people, but because he feels we should treat all people equally and that Day of Silence is not necessary because he and others he knows treat all people equally. And he doesn't stand for gay marriage.
Well, neither do I, but I am against discrimination of any kind, and Day of Silence was sort of about all discrimination, not just discrimination against LGBT, and though I know people sometimes make a big deal out of nothing, I know what prejudice is like and have seen it, so that's mostly what today was about for me.
"The Carpal Tunnel of Love" is my new favorite song.
"Infinity On High" is my new favorite album.
What's THAT supposed to mean?

Butterfinger

They call you sticky fingers for a reason!

REALLY WILD!!!

It's official. I'm addicted.

Your Candy Heart Says "Get Real"

You're a bit of a cynic when it comes to love.

You don't lose your head, and hardly anyone penetrates your heart.

Your ideal Valentine's Day date: is all about the person you're seeing (with no mentions of v-day!)

Your flirting style: honest and even slightly sarcastic

What turns you off: romantic expectations and "greeting card" holidays

Why you're hot: you don't just play hard to get - you are hard to get

Alex Sanchez isn't a bad author. I just wouldn't have kissed Iggy.
"The End of Racism" is still quite intriguing. Ethnocentrism is sometimes mistaken for racism. Huh.
What's my magical pick-up line?
OOooooh, bad.
These pick-up lines suck.
Definitely less frustrated now. Just a little uneasy.
Mmm, cookie dough ice cream cake.
Sounds delicious.
My dad doesn't know how to make an ice cream cake.
He also didn't know it required ICE CREAM.
Oh well.
Tyler threw ham at me today. During track, Kevin and Jessica were throwing grass at me. Janessa was throwing punches at me.
I detect a theme here.
