Like chocolate cake, only BETTER!

A bunch of my friends took the Big Five Personality Test.
It was exciting. Four new profiles all to myself!
I spent a long time looking and comparing.
Kevin's profile is spot on, but they pegged him as an ISFJ. Pfft, not hardly.
I don't know. Whenever people start exploring the different aspects of their personality, I find it COMPLETELY FASCINATING. Every time someone takes a test I get a little giddy. Looking at someone else's profile is like starting a new book.
Conclusion: I'm a nerd.
This is what I still don't get: how is KEVIN a more likely candidate for early childhood education than I am? He HATES kids!!
And my #1 was GRAPHIC DESIGN. WTF. I HATE ART AND ANYTHING THAT HAS TO DO WITH 'VISUALIZING'.
I told my dad, and he was like, "Well, you'd be good at it."
"I don't care, Dad. I hate it."
"Well, but you definitely have some artistic characteristics."
Like what, intense mood swings and utter nerdiness.
The same thing happened a couple nights ago, when I said something and he listened to part of what I said, but not why I said it. Or he listened to the wrong part.
When I want to grow up, I said, I want to BE a french horn.
Not PLAY a french horn. BE one.
And he was like, "Oh, yeah, I think you'd be good at French horn! It's a difficult instrument, to be sure, but you're talented...yeah, I think you'd be great!"
No, Dad. No.
But he's been asking questions and actually trying to understand me lately, and it must be that time of the month again, because the very thought brings sentimental tears to my eyes.
Speaking of sentimental tears, I love "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" SO MUCH. Stephen Chbosky is the man. Every time I read it, I want to hug Charlie. And then, I realized something I hadn't gotten last time, and it made me feel TERRIBLE for him. And yet he got through it and loved his "tormentor" or whatever. It was still sad.
But one day I'm going to go driving with my friends and we're going to listen to The Smiths and I can bet we'll feel infinite.
I finished "Love, Stargirl", too, and it was SO much better than "Stargirl".
Stargirl actually seemed real. It was amazing. It was one of those books where you felt like crying, not because it was sad, but because it was so spectacularly amazing, but you didn't cry because the warm fuzzies you got from reading the book have made you too happy.
:) I feel like being sappy right now. It's been a good day, full of chocolate cake, reading, family bonding, Freddie Mercury, and dad time.
"The Show Must Go On" is seriously the greatest song ever written.
Just like hyperbole is the best thing EVER.
But really. I listen to it a lot and feel depressed, but also happy because I love the song.
I've been listening to "Mr. Brightside" a lot, too. It makes me happy every time I listen to it. Seriously, I can't help but smile.
And "Stars" from "Les Miserables". Javert might be a rule-following psycho, but for that one song he becomes my favorite character. And then darn Valjean has to sing again, so I get distracted. But it's so simple.
Rambling rambling rambling.
It just seems good right now.
I'm going to help with the little kids' Sunday School, because I missed it after my parents stopped teaching it.
What, they need helpers?
Sorry, youth band.
Apparently Steve will feel guilty for years and years if I don't join.
I was thinking about it.
But why spend time with cocky junior high boys who try to sing low and like to jump over tables (don't ask) when I could be taking Ethan on missions to find his family or petting multiple "puppies"?
I'm going to bed in a REALLY good mood. That means tomorrow will either be a really good day or a really bad one.
Oh, and I was wrong about my history teacher. But we'll see how that class goes.

Brideshead revisited...again

I can just hear a certain pastor's favorite joke, "The Department of Redundancy Department".
A&E said "Brideshead Revisited" wasn't that good, and I'd heard that the relationship of Sebastian and Charles was super flamboyant compared to the book.
It really wasn't that bad.
Charles and Sebastian kissed once, and Charles wasn't even that into it.
Sebastian and Anthony were apparently a couple (? not sure if that's true) before Charles showed up, and within 10 minutes of the film's beginning, we get a kiss from the couple.
I freaked out, more because THEY DIDN'T DATE IN THE BOOK.
It was still a little like, "Hellooooo, Anthony, good to see you...even though you have a moustache!"
Seriously, the moustache grossed me out. I'd pictured sideburns, not a moustache.
What bugged me was that Julia kept popping up and made this weird love triangle between Charles, Sebastian, and herself.
Ugh, I hated her. She couldn't act, and she wasn't even cute!
AND IT WASN'T IN THE BOOK!
Julia and Charles didn't have this epic love that stretched across time. He wasn't interested in her while he was with Sebastian. They didn't have this cutesy forbidden love that "wasn't meant to be"!
Ugh, it was so stupid and disgusting to watch. I guess it worked out pretty well for the director, since Charles' "betrayal" drove Sebastian to drink.
Since the book didn't give a reason, they couldn't leave it all vague. No, it had to be cinematic and theatrical.
Ridiculous.
Other than that, it stayed pretty true to the book.
Emma Thompson was CRAZY. She should play a psycho more often.
My mouth dropped open when I saw Lord Marchmain.
Because I hadn't expected Dumbledore.
And he's not allowed to do any movies besides Harry Potter, of course.
When it came to Catholicism, it seemed ironic that Sebastian, the homosexual dipsomaniac, came the closest. He admitted he needed God's love. Whether or not he found it...he did live with those monks. Cordelia basically said that was good enough, since it was a kind of faith, which went against everything her religion had taught her.
I never thought of Cordelia as stupid, the way the movie portrayed her. But oh well.
Bridey was perfect: ignorant, rude, determined, etc.
When Sebastian moved to Morocco...
It was a poignant scene in the movie, and I was too busy thinking how hot he looked.
Then I started to tear up, because Charles was crying whilst keeping a stiff upper lip. Those British.
It was weird how the movie ended without hope. Sure, Charles learned to RESPECT the altar and the faith, but he walked away after, probably never to be seen again. He just faded away, like the Indians in "Lagaan". Wow. Talk about crappy endings.
And now dinner.
How is it that it's hard to articulate in words what something means to you, but it's easy to write it down...in words?
Doesn't make sense.
Because it was hard to describe the movie to my mom, but if she'd asked me to write it down...
Obviously a career in public speaking isn't in my future. Oh darn.

Cheesy e-mail forwards gone wrong

My dad's friends have been sending us a billion, like "For all who love dogs-hahaha" and "Kids explaining the Bible - too funny"!
But there was this one sent that made me cry.
And I felt stupid. But some of them were so sad.
Yesterday was a little bit sad for my grandpa.
Well, not a little bit.
His sister died, and he had to spend most of the day like it didn't bother him, being the host.
And he'd been expecting it.
But something like that would still ruin your day.
Or week.
It was a great picnic, though. Usually I hate the Fourth of July, but I actually enjoyed myself this year.
The ice cream took forever to make, but it was delicious, as usual.
The blackbottom cupcakes were delicious. Nathan tried to steal the one Grandma was saving. But he failed.
I ate an entire bar of Hershey's, but it was disappointing. Kind of dry. Disgusting.
There was some random guy I'm almost positive I'm not related to.
Funny how hormones work.
You see someone you like and decide to be on your "best behavior". From that moment on, you make a complete fool of yourself.
Other times, when you don't like anyone and you're just being yourself, you unknowingly attract someone else.
Weird. No one really wins.

Why would they write out all the eye candy in one episode?

Oh no.
"Robin Hood" just gets worse from here!
We just finished the episode about racism and slavery and Islam yesterday.
How fantastically preachy.
Christians are wimpy pansies who hate Muslims! Only Muslims know how to worship properly! Religion actually means something to them!
And who didn't know that Djak was a girl?
Her boobs were pretty obvious. And her pants were pretty tight.
But Will Scarlett couldn't tell until he walked in on her naked, and was like, "Boobs? You have boobs?"
She freaked out and hit him in the face with a tree branch.
Way to be all nonchalant.
I miss Roy.
If they were going to kill off a character, why couldn't it have been Little John? No one likes him anyway.
And if Robin is so "noble", why does he only give himself up when he knows there's a way out?
Roy sacrificed himself for his friends, and he KNEW there would be no saving him.
:(
I have to say it.
MY TWO FAVORITE CHARACTERS LEAVE THE SHOW AFTER THE SECOND SEASON!!
WHY???
WHY?????????
WHYYYYYYYYYYYYY??????
>:(
And it's not Robin Hood.
But they are getting a new actor for the part of Robin in Season 4. Hmmmm....

The keyboard: I know it well

You Are "alt"

Some people might find you to be strange, mysterious, and even a bit off putting.

You tend to be drawn to and influenced by alternative lifestyles. You're definitely not normal.

Once people get to know you, they realize you're interesting, intriguing, and very intelligent.

You have a lot of knowledge stored in that big brain of yours. Most of it is useless knowledge, but some of it is very useful.

I know for a fact I have been hint-y, but when people inquire as to what has made me so incensed, I'm all vague, and, "Oh, nothing."
If you've ever experienced this with me or anyone, I sincerely apologize.
Because now I know how annoying it is.
All my friends are kind of depressed.
But life goes on.
Which is really kind of depressing.
Hopefully the Crazee Chickens will cheer them up.
Because nothing cheers people up like a Crazee Chicken.
They were out of yellow, though, so they'll have to make do with taupe and off-white.
Black and pink decorations.
Kind of anti-party, yet too trendy teenage girl.
Oh well. Not everything can be perfect.
My mom thinks I'm part of a Mr. Darcy situation.
I hope with all my heart and soul that I'm not.
Seriously. I hate that guy SO much.
Which apparently means true love.
That area of my life is already very complicated. Threefold.
My cup runneth over. But not my bra size.
Because that would be just wrong.

Fascinating things, belly buttons.

You Are Puzzled Over

You are quirky, complicated, and brilliant. You tend to feel a bit misunderstood by everyone, and that troubles you.

It's likely that you will have four or more children... whether you use birth control or not!

You are not easily moved. You are very stoic and not though of as an emotional person.

You are very detail oriented and tidy. Some may even call you obsessive.

You are quite conservative. You are neither a flirter or a flaunter.

Who says I'll be using birth control?
Hee hee. Those darn Catholics.
"We're hypocrites. But you already knew that."
"Oh...well, Baptists eat a lot and can't dance."
I have really amazing friends. It was so good to see them again...even if it was 2 hours late, which was kind of a bonus.
Still. It was a weird day. Kind of sad, too.
My cellphone's happy, though.
The Bumblebee.
Holy snap. Emma Thompson and Ang Lee did a superb job on "Sense and Sensibility".
It was better even than "Pride and Prejudice", and completely beat out "Wives and Daughters", no matter how hot Roger was.
Hugh Grant, Emma Thompson, Hugh LAURIE, Alan Rickman, and Kate Winslet.
WHAT'S NOT TO LOVE??
Hugh Grant used to be a babe. Well, he still is...sort of. Just older.
Alan Rickman was almost 50 when he did the movie, and managed to play an older gentleman without being creepy!
And you could tell he loved Marianne. It was so adorable.
He carried her 5 and a half miles in the rain!!
He read her Shakespeare's sonnets when she got sick!!
He brought her flowers when she twisted her ankle!!
Too wonderful for words.

The Dark Knight

I didn't really like it, to put it lightly.
Although it was a lot less boring than "Batman Begins".
And Maggie Gyllenhall was a great replacement for the ditzy Katie Holmes.
And Heath Ledger was BRILLIANT. Who knew he could actually ACT? The Joker is many things - sadistic, sick, twisted, deranged, etc. - but also completely believable and hilarious. Even while he was threatening gangstas with a knife, he managed to make you laugh at his little jokes.
But the movie itself wasn't worth watching. Well-made, well-acted (I hate Christian Bale with a fiery passion, but that's just me), but the ending seemed...lame.
They killed Gary Oldman...but he wasn't really dead??
I was so confused as to how that happened.
Even if he was wearing Kevlar, we saw the bullet hit!! Flesh FLEW!! There was a bloody hole in his BODY!!!
Did they allow only one person to look at Gordon, pronounce him dead, and then put him in a body bag with no complaints?
How did he get out of the body bag? How did he get out of the morgue?
Harvey "Two-Face" Dent's hideous burned face was SO FAKE!!
Directors don't realize they can do as much with makeup and costumes as they can with CGI...and the former sometimes works better!
He looked like something out of "Pirates of the Caribbean", which was scary...in 2003.
Why did Batman go for Harvey? He could've saved Rachel. He SHOULD'VE saved Rachel.
In fact, none of the things that happened in the entire last half of the movie would've happened if he'd FREAKING SAVED RACHEL!
And I thought maybe it was a trick. Maybe she was really wearing Kevlar...because Kevlar totally protects against a bomb blast.
But Christopher Nolan wouldn't pull that trick twice in the same movie.
Wait...he did that in "The Prestige", though, didn't he?
But she was dead. And if I were Alfred, I would've given Bruce Rachel's letter. Then he could've stopped his pouty, self-absorbed, "She was going to wait for me" mourning and started saving people.
The social experiment with the two ferries was weird: it showed one ferry where the decision to kill a boatload of people was decided fairly, democratically, fairly peacefully; on the other ferry, it was chaos, with prisoners yelling, screaming, and trying to take the detonator by force.
Then both came to the same decision: throw the detonators away. Rather than kill others to save their own lives, they saved themselves and the others by deciding not to kill.
But it also seemed like they were equating anarchy with democracy: both have their purpose. They can both work to the same good.
What?
After a whole 2.5 hours of telling us anarchy is bad, you're promoting it now?
Then again, it could also be seen as relatively "good" people and "bad" men believing in good, which I believe was explicitly stated in the movie.
So, in essence, even bad guys deserve a second chance. Still...
Or maybe I'm reading way too far into this. Like with Beatles songs.
And then Batman runs away into the darkness, claiming to have killed the people Harvey killed, and taking the now dead Harvey's place as a criminal.
What?
Sure, that's noble...but also kind of stupid. And a little self-righteous.
"Oh, now the police will hunt me, because I took the blame for Harvey even when I don't deserve! What a dark knight I am, hence the title of the movie! *wink wink*"
Well, yeah, but they were going to chase you anyway for beating up everyone on the SWAT team, and stealing millions of dollars in order to create Bat-gadgets.
Now you're a murderer? If they ever catch you, you're screwed.
Ugh, and stop believing Rachel loved you so much. You were a jerk. You slept around and humiliated her in public as Bruce Wayne. And now she's dead...and it's your fault.
Well, really, it's the Joker's. But still.
So we should lie to the people that really matter so they can believe in a better tomorrow.
Everyone deserves a second chance...as does every form of government (or rather, anti-government).
And the hero we believe in is a selfish, pretty boy billionaire who has a weird way of saying his S's (just watch his mouth; it's so bothersome), because he's really British.
That's comforting.

Robots are just as sympathetic

Have you ever wondered what one should do to acquire a shopping cart? How much do they cost? If you weren't going to steal one or pull one out of a dump, could you walk into a grocery store and ask for one? Or would you have to buy it? "Yes, well, I need a shopping cart to put all my personal belongings in."
My new coat looks like a trenchcoat. I look like Carmen Sandiego, only not as hot. I think everyone had a secret crush on Carmen. If they didn't, why would they spend so much looking for her?
Homeless people make me sad. Not, "Oh, wow, that's depressing, I'll go buy a coffee and sip melancholy-like", or, "Those pathetic losers, spending all their money on cigs," sad. A woman came up to me today sobbing because she didn't have any pads. She wanted $5 to go buy some and I FROZE.
Then I started to cry.
The ones with the shopping carts are so stoic, too, like, "Yeah, that's life." Some have dogs that look up dolefully at you, like, "Sure, it sucks, but I wouldn't want to be anywhere else."
I saw one a couple months ago who was holding a sign that said, "Anything helps, even a smile." It was weird and kind of touching to see an optimist who saw cheapskates walking by, smiling guiltily, and smiled back at them because anything DID help.
I only gave that woman a couple of cents.
I had a 5 dollar bill in my pocket.

The cutest cows you ever did see

You Are 60% Ready to Be a Parent

You are mostly ready to be a parent, though you could be better prepared.

If you had a kid tomorrow, things might be difficult at first - but you could pull through.

You don't have to be an ideal parent, but if your life was in better order, it would help.

Make yourself a plan of how you'll raise and pay for a kid. You'll feel better if you have all your ducks in a row.

If you're already a parent, you're probably doing a good job.

Even if things aren't perfect, you're making the best of it.

Don't you hate thinking up brilliant things just as you're starting to fall asleep?
Then that wonderous thought disappears into your subconcious and you NEVER remember it.
NEVER!!
The choir concert last night wasn't bad.
It would be sort of biased to say our school did best.
But we definitely did better than Klahowya.
Kristine is so fantabulous.
Swimming in the pool was actually pretty fun. My swimsiut from 7th grade still fits me perfectly. I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing.
Mr. Freeman actually gave us half an hour to mess around.
And then stripping in the locker room afterwards wasn't nearly as traumatizing as it was in 7th grade. Girls were just walking around half-dressed or naked by the swimsuit dryer.
Ha ha, Sarah. Whenever the teacher asks us a question, we'll howl instead. And jingles will scare me for the rest of my life.
Poor Kris. He was really bummed yesterday and today he was trying to act like he was okay. It's really sad.

Monday, November 03, 2008

That's not cool. Shut your foo.

How does that even happen? Why would she be okay with that?
You're not even REMOTELY romantically interested in each other...and yet?
Just a small problem.
Anyway.
Crap. The election is tomorrow.
Either way, we're screwed.

We Can't Predict Who You Voted For

According to our quiz, there's a 45% chance you voted for Obama.

But that means there's an 55% chance you voted for McCain.

You aren't very typical. You tend to be independent, and your vote is highly coveted.

While we can't predict how you voted, there's a good chance you voted for the winner!

"Peter Pan" is really a very depressing book. Disney completely romanticized it and makes it seem like a wonderful children's story, but it's really not.
I'm not saying it's not a good book; it is. It's just really sad and violent and it's not something I'd read to my kids at bedtime.
They kill all the Indians! ALL OF THEM! IT'S A BLOODY MASSACRE!
THEY GOT TIGER LILY!
And Peter Pan never grows up. We all knew that was coming of course, but he completely forgets the people dearest to him, like Tinkerbell (who dies), Hook (his nemesis), the Lost Boys, and Wendy.
When Wendy grows up, he befriends her daughter Jane and takes her to Neverland.
When Jane grows up, he befriends her daughter Maragaret and takes HER to Neverland.
It's a neverending cycle.
I don't know. It kind of sucks for the girls, who "love" Peter in more ways than one, but find that he's too young and immature to get that.
Then, as they continue to mature and age, they have to leave him behind in Neverland.
My least favorite part is that Wendy, John, Michael, and the lost boys have all these wonderful adventures with fairies and pirates and what not...
...and then return to England, grow up, and live perfectly ordinary lives.
You would think that going to Neverland would make life...I don't know...worth living.
Kind of messes you up a little bit.

Funny AND sexy

"A Midsummer Night's Dream" is a very creative movie, and I love Shakespeare, but it was quite...naked.
Having Christian Bale, Rupert Everett, and Dominic West in one movie was wonderful. And none of them wore shirts half the time!
So Christine and I babysat Elyse and Jin for 8 and a half hours.
Yeah. You can tell that went well.
We probably shouldn't be alone together.
We ended up taking the goats on a walk, playing with the Barbies for a long team, and consuming massive amounts of junk food.
Baby Ben and Jerry's!
Church was great. I was super emotional all day, though. I think it was hormones and lack of sleep.
Bad combo.
But we watched a Nooma movie in Primetime and I love those.
Only the woman in it got hit by a truck.
She got HIT by a TRUCK.
Sierra's mom didn't let her go to church today. They're both really hurting and Sierra's sad that her mom thinks she doesn't love her and it's all confusing. :(
Just...everything.
Ugh, I wish Kristine didn't have to move in the summer.
And there's math homework to do. :P

Teamwork! Pokemon! Dugtrio!

Uggggh. "Barbie and the Diamond Castle" was pretty bad, even for a Barbie movie.
I was so excited, too, but it was no "Mariposa", which pretty much changed my life.
Or "Barbie as the Island Princess", which was pretty cool.
Barbie's friend Teresa had a major role, but didn't really do anything. It was mostly just a Barbie lovefest.
And there were singing Elvis twins!!! Aaaaaah say it isn't so!!
The creators of the movie thought it would be ABSOLUTELY hilarious to have the puppies start breakdancing.
CHOCOLATE! The Cherrydale Farms guy came to our school and supplied us with candy. Raaah, I want to start selling.
Maybe I'll even buy a whole box so I can hole up in my room and eat all 42 bars.
"Oh, uh, hey there, Timpani. I'd like to thank you for this amazing breakfast. Scrambled eggs and cinnamon toast?? Mmmmm...delicious."
Ba dum bum.
Aaaah, a Sims blog!!! I'm trying to go back to the very beginning. It'll probably take a while.
SUCCESS!
Sierra stole my measuring tape.
But, no matter, I'm still flat-chested.
:(
Mr. Rosendale is having us read really depressing stories.
First, "The Cold Equations" (okay, not going to lie, I liked that one).
Then, it was "The river, the Bass, and Sheila Mant" (Aaargh. She wasn't worth it...and THEY BOTH GOT AWAY!)
Pretty soon, we're going to read "Of Mice and Men".
Lennie!!! Bunnies!!! Murder!!! Morality!! God!!!
Sounds like a blast. XP
I kind of want to make a Sims blog now.
But we all know how that will turn out.

His weak chin shaking in anger....

You Are Macaroni and Cheese

Compared to most people, you are quite playful. You are a big kid at heart.

It doesn't take much to make you happy. You live for simple, happy moments.

You are very content. You don't try to make life overly complicated.

You remain thankful for whatever you have. Even if it isn't much, you make the best of things.

It's always nice to spend an entire day doing nothing.
Lisa left this morning. Tie told her off for waking up so early.
She left me "The Kite Runner". I'm 100 pages in and it's good, but also sad. It's impossible to completely hate Amir, though, because though his reasons were selfish...I don't know. I just don't hate him.
Poor Hassan, though.
Nazis suck.
"Eclipse" is dragging. I need to finish "The Deathly Hallows" and "Inkheart", not to mention loads of library books, so I'm rather tied up at the moment.

Thank God this moment's not the last

I saw Alexis in the window. It was pretty funny. I was just walking Tie and she appears in the attic.
Apparently she's switching rooms. She said I could help her paint. :D
But if she's switching rooms, does this mean Texas isn't official?
Because last time I checked, Texas was on. :(
I forgot to ask.
Aaargh, I was reading about the upcoming "Princess Diaries" book, and the blurbs basically told me that Mia will end up with Michael.
NOOOOOOOOOO!
I almost started crying when I read that.
Argh. I hate Michael.
But Meg Cabot is being Meg Cabot.
I just realized that she isn't that great a writer.
And not just because I'm bitter about J.P.
But all of her books are sort of the same.
The characters, the plot...everything.
Princess Diaries is the only series of hers that I truly enjoyed.
I reread "Pants on Fire" and it reeked of predictability and not-so-subtle women's rights messages.
Ugh.
Michele Jaffe is always hilarious and amazing, but I have yet to read "Kitty Kitty".
There's a new Peaches book coming out! Yay!
The last book in the "Dairy Queen" series is not coming out till Fall 2009. XP
Like Mimi, I want to put on a tight skirt and flirt with a stranger.
Okay, not really.
But dancing on some random guy's stoop at night sounds fun.

Skippy peanut butter forest

"Invisible" by Pete Hautman is fascinating, but ultimately depressing. I wasn't exactly surprised by the ending, but I was a little surprised by the circumstances. I just knew that a lot of it wasn't real.

What Your Bed Says About You

Outward appearances aren't important to you at all. You think that the over emphasis on looks to be shallow.

You try to be an organized person, but you often fall behind. Certain parts of your life tend to fall into chaos.

You are not very high maintenance in general, but you are high maintenance about a few things.

In relationships, you tend to be quite dominant. You enjoy taking charge.

You tend to be a dreamy, head in the clouds type of person. You think in terms of possibilities.

You are a total homebody. You are happiest when you're at home.

Alexis is moving to Texas. That would be funny, because it rhymes, but that's depressing, too.
We have to devise a plan to make her stay.
She doesn't want to move, because she'll miss high school and Disneyland. Why are her parents making her move at this pivotal time in her life in the first place? Way to be insensitive and selfish, guys.
The sophomores got their schedules last night. I checked with a couple of my friends and I only have one class with each of them, except for Alexis and Kevin. I have three classes with Kevin - what's up with that? And he got put in some random vocational class he did NOT sign up for. "Best Classroom" - sounds thrilling.
I'm pretty excited for school to start, but the school is so big and my classes are so far apart, I'm afraid I'll be late.
My dad was freaking out because my locker wouldn't open. I didn't think it was supposed to, but whatever.
So Wednesday was sort of a momentuous occasion: I got my first pair of skinny jeans, hahahaha.
And they were pretty cheap, so that's cool.
I don't have one of those pyscho-religious uber-strict families that makes their girls wear knee-length skirts and never lets their kids watch PG-13 movies, but my mom was pretty adamant about me not getting skinny jeans.
But then I tried some on and she saw I didn't look like a harlot, so she let me buy them.
Funny thing, too, my dad actually asked if I was going to buy some before I let for the mall, and my mom said he was the one that wouldn't allow skinny jeans in our household.
????
Although I'm a little apprehensive about wearing them because he saw another pair of regular fit jeans that I have and was like, ":O Are THOSE your skinny jeans???"
So if regular fit is too tight, he'll have a conniption when I pull on my skinny jeans.

888...the number of the beast?

Ha, Iron Maiden is too cool.
Yeah, today is 8/8/08 and I'm freaking out right now.
Cuz that's pretty cool.
If you're a nerd like me.
Here I sit, sporting my brand new WSU T-shirt. It looks pretty sweet, if I do say so myself.
Tie is almost back to normal, I think. She's still depressed and itchy (probably because she misses Nathan; she did pee on his bed), but she went on two walks and played tug-of-war for about 2 seconds before the next mood swing hit.
*shakes head* Girls.
Iliza Schlesinger won "Last Comic Standing"!!! Wow, who knew? It was between her and Marcus, and she pulled it off. And she's the first woman to win...EVER.
Last night's finale was sort of lame, though. They had Jon Reep, John Lovitz, and some guy off E! perform. Jon Reep was funny, as always. I still love it when he says "Hickory".
But Bill Belamy and Fearne Cotton didn't really have anything to do, so they compromised by telling stupid jokes (Bill), making loud screeching noises (Bill), forcing laughter at all the comics' jokes (Fearne), making weird hand gestures (also Fearne), and looking awkward (again, Fearne).
GROSS, I looked in the mirror without my retainers on and I looked like Demi Lovato!!
No, that's not a good thing!!
But when I showed off my hideous new teeth and turned my head to the side, I WAS Demi Lovato!
Only, you know, taller and myopic.
We even have the same really large cleft chin and bangs!
WHAT IS GOING ON????
It kind of screwed up my entire day.
Because I went through 6 years of dental torture so they could make me look like Demi Lovato.
So no, Mom, I don't think this stupid braces business was worth it AT ALL.
I have half a mind NOT to wear these stupid retainers.
But, of course, I only have half a mind.

Itchy, drugged terriers need cream cheese.

We just got Tie back from Courtney and she is thoroughly miserable. Courtney took her to a park and Tie got fleas.
????
We've taken Tie to parks before and she's never gotten fleas.
So she's not acting like herself at all.
She mostly stays in her bed and when, she does get up, flinches and bites herself so much that she runs back to bed.
She still hasn't finished food from dinner.
And she didn't drink for hours, so when she finally did, she drank almost the whole bowl.
I'm really worried about her, but my mom gave her a cream cheese pill and some flower oil, so she said she'd be okay.
I hope.

What Your Playing Cards Tell About Your Future

Right now you are focusing on friendships, relationships, and interpersonal connections.

Your emotions are currently tied to a trusted woman in your life. She is just, and she has your best interests at heart.

Your closest friend is someone you have a co-dependent relationship with. The two of you desperately need each other to survive.

The near future will bring you a long term friendship, children you love, happy family relationships, and prosperity.

Beware of a forced change. The circumstances of your life are about to become very different.

Sure....
I had a drive at 11 AM today, but it was fun because it was around town, not just in the older part of town, which SUCKS because there are no stoplights or landmarks. Today, Ed had us drive to the mall, Dairy Queen (we didn't buy anything), and go around a roundabout.
Driver's Ed was sort of fun. Phoebe and I had to plan a road trip from Silverdale to WSU.
Which, funnily enough, is the route I took a couple days ago.
Too, too funny.
But the trip itself had to take at least 5 days, and we had to make 6 recreational stops.
So we went to the Space Needle (or the Space Noodle, in Jeff's words), the EMP, Mount Baker, Soap Lake, some other fantastic lake, and Nathan's best friend's family's house.
Which is where I stayed 2 days ago. Ha.
I'M GETTING MY BRACES OFF TOMORROW!!!!
Toffee for LIFE!
Yes, there will be a retainer, but WHO CARES?

"Keep sucking on that Twinkie, fatty." "It's a Ho-ho."

Yeah, sadly, nothing much has happened since Friday. Randy Pausch died, though, which made me incredibly sad because I didn't know. He's the kind of person that makes everyone else look awful. Not in bad way. That's actually a terrible thing to say. He was just a really great guy. I watched the special about him on ABC and only cried when his oldest son said that no problem is impossible to solve, because that's both true and untrue in the case of his dad.
Agh, "Rent" sort of changed my life. I watched a 90-minute documentary about Jonathan Larson (who died not of AIDs, as I was first told, but from an aortic aneurysm) and the writing of "Rent".
I think I like the new cast better than the original theater cast. Hate to be agist, but Fredi Walker did seem too old. Rosario Dawson and Daphne Rubin-Vega were both good Mimis, but Rosario Dawson and Adam Pascal had better chemistry.
Agh, "Musetta's Waltz" in my head.
MIMI!!!!
I had a physical on Monday, and my mom and I sort of despise the nurse practitioner, because she's a judgemental hypocrite, and she tried to put me on birth control.
???????
Me?
???????
If I have "trouble" during my menstrual cycle, like mood swings, cramps, or heavy flow, I need to go on the pill.
???????
???????
Doesn't EVERYONE have those kinds of problems???
"The Baby Borrowers" season finale was totally anti-climactic.
They did well with the elderly, and some of the old guys had been married for 67 years!!!
But then, at the end of the experiment, NONE of the couples remained together.
:(
Ooooh...I really thought some of them would be together forever.
And, no, I don't hold the creepy and unrealistic expectation that all high-school couples should only date if they intend to get married, but if you're out of high-school and you're still together...?
I don't know, even though it's probably never going to go anywhere, you still probably want the relationship to last forever.
Like that Chicago song.
At least Kelly and Austin broke up, finally.

La vie boheme

Last night I watched "Rent" for the first time with my mom and brother, and the ENTIRE time, William kept making snide comments like, "Gross, lesbians," and, "Stupid tranny. I hate Angel."
Then, when my favorite character DIES, he's giggling in the back saying, "I don't really care, I mean, this movie sucks."
And, as he says this, I'm in the back corner bawling my eyes, because this movie is SAD. How is he not sad, too??
Then, when it's over, he says, "That was it? What a dumb ending."
I don't believe this.
"There was no resolution."
??????? What are you TALKING about?? There was resolution!
"There was IMPLIED resolution. IMPLIED resolution."
Okay, I HATE it when he acts like he's SO much smarter than I am, and that his opinion is superior because he's in the "gifted" program.
But WHAT DID HE EXPECT? A "6 months later..." montage of the all the characters living happily ever after??
At the end, all the friends have found each other again, back in their apartment where they still don't have to pay rent. Mimi has been found and saved, Angel's memory will live on, Roger has inspiration, Collins rewired an ATM in memory of his dead lover, Maureen and Joanne are back together, and Mark just finished an awesome film about AIDs in New York.
THAT, my friend, is resolution.
And I guess William didn't really like it because he only watched the last half (meaning he came downstairs halfway through and said, "This sucks," multiple times, but still wouldn't leave), but the characters touched me so deeply (yeah, cliche, I know) that it weirds me out that he didn't feel any of that. Especially when Angel died. I cried for 2 hours after the movie was over. I don't know why, but I kept thinking of him as a real person.
Because he would have been really cool to have as a friend.
I don't know what's sadder; the death of a powerful fictional character, or the fact that I'm crying over the death of a powerful fictional character.

Boxers are the greatest

And I'm not talking about the dog.
Seriously, they're SOOOOO comfortable. I can see why guys wear them. Everyone should wear boxers. And they increase fertility!
Sex Ed has been going pretty well in Health. We're now watching some Pam Stenzel videos. Everyone else kind of hates her, but she's pretty cool. Her dad was a rapist. That sucks. She doesn't know her real ethnicity.
Life has been kind of boring lately.
School won't hurry up and end all ready. We still have 2 MORE WEEKS left. Math is the only class I enjoy now. Besides English. And Health, sometimes.

What the Beach Test Says About You

You like people, but you're careful about who you get close to. Friendship is important to you... so important that you aren't just friends with anyone.

You fall in love with ease and confidence. Even if you've had bad experiences in the past, each new love is a reason to start completely over.

You are deeply passionate about several things in your life. You're not passionate about much... and the few passions you have are truly obsessions.

Your sense of humor is goofy and silly. You are good at making almost anyone laugh.

We've had Tie 2 weeks and she's pretty amazing. She waited for me until I woke up, and then acted all excited when I finally got out of bed. How nice is that?
"Am I Right or Am I Right?" was a REALLY SAD BOOK. It was funny, sort of obnoxious, and oblivious, but the end was hopeful. It was just so sad.
"To Kill a Mockingbird" and "Freakonomics" are two of my favorite books now. Boo Radley is the bomb. I wish I was Boo Radley. That book was sad, too.
Peter Abrahams is awesome. His Echo Falls series is pretty dang cool.
Those dang sighs and groans.
I think I'm seeing "Kung Fu Panda" with my brothers today. Sweet.
