He's fast! He's strong! He'll pop all your bloons!
School finally let out on Thursday. Classes were only 27 minutes long, but each class was the longest 27 minutes of my life.
And I wore a skirt for the first time in 2 or 3 years. I was girling it up. Flaunting it. All that good stuff.
Then we went to Dairy Queen and I got the crappiest dipped cone I'd ever seen.
It was like a mountain rather than a triumphant curlicue. And not a beautiful mountain. If there is such a thing.
And it tasted like a melancholy cloud.
It would've been poetic if it hadn't been so disgusting.
GROSS!
And the weather has kind of sucked since then. It was like, "Woooo, Summer Break!!!" And yet there are clouds in the sky, it's down to 50 degrees, and it rained today.
Fun.
I hate it here.
But we went to Seattle for the Mariners game, which made me love Washington again.
I know. We have a complicated relationship.
My dad and I sat right behind home plate, and talked about music ("Do you like Candlebox Twenty?" "....") while eating delicious pizza and full-fat ice cream.
Yeah, I'll be honest; I only got to baseball games for the food.
But I managed to pay attention...and we won! So that was nice.
The helmet cups were overrated. It's $7 for a helmet full of ice cream, and you say to yourself, "A whole HELMET? With whipped cream? $7? BRING IT ON!" So you troop over to the ice cream stand and wait in line forever, all while chanting and psyching yourself up for a whole HELMETFUL of ICE CREAM! It's 7-year-old Bill Cosby's dream-come-true. So you get up there and fork over 7 bucks and choose from a grand total of 3 flavors...and then they bring out the helmet.
It's tiny.
It's smaller than the $5 cups they use for ice cream.
It's a rip off.
But it's so darn cute!

She's a ho! My dad's been kidnapped by a ho!
Elizabeth Gaskell apparently succeeded in creating the first Victorian soap opera.
My mom, my brother, and I just finished watching the BBC adaptation of "Wives and Daughters", and it was really good (like everything BBC has done), but some of it was...a little disappointing, I guess.
Or maybe just confusing.
Or perhaps a little maddening.
Take Roger for instance. Molly is completely in love for YEARS while he runs around discovering bugs, tramping through Africa, getting engaged to her slutty stepsister, and falling off cliffs.
Then he FINALLY comes home after everyone has had secret French love children, broken off their engagement, or died.
And all of a sudden, he likes Molly.
He's at this party when Molly comes in and he's like, "Ooooooh...Molly's looking hot this season."
But she has a date, so she spends all her time with him instead and her friends rub it in Roger's face!! It's pretty sweet.
But they end up together, because it wouldn't be a happy ending if they didn't.
And I'm glad they ended up together.
But he took 3 YEARS to come around, and was completely oblivious to the fact that this girl was following him around because she's MADLY IN LOVE WITH HIM.
He just thought they were really excellent "friends".
And the fact that he went and engaged himself to Cynthia, who was shallow and had absolutely NO interest in him or any of the things he liked, while Molly had A LOT in common with him.
And it must have been a tip-off when Cynthia wouldn't answer any of his letters, but Molly wrote him a million and asked questions about bugs. Fun times.
But no. Roger remained blissfully unaware until Molly got hot and he came down with scarlet fever.
Moron.
And Mr. Preston was a little creepy, but he sincerely loved Cynthia, who was, as they called her, a "Jilting Jesse". Poor guy.
It's not his fault.
And yeah, he was a little stalker-y...but he gave her back the letters.
We're going to watch "Sense and Sensibility" today. Because they haven't made any more Elizabeth Gaskell movies, but Jane Austen has hundreds of potentially crappy flicks for us to watch.
Not that she's a bad writer; she's great.
But today's filmmakers don't always do her justice.
By the way, screw the Brontes. They were boring.

White-coated ninja stalks at night
It's 35 degrees outside, which is supposedly WARMER than the past few days, but the weathermen neglected to tell us all about the wind chill factor.
So, in actuality, it's 5 degrees outside.
Is it really that weird to be able to drink a milkshake in snowy weather? Hot cocoa just isn't the same.
Francesca Lia Block keeps blowing me away. "Necklace of Kisses" is somehow better than "Baby Be-Bop", the best of the Weetzie Bat books.
AND THEY'RE MAKING A MOVIE!
We got at least 3 more inches of snow, and it's been snowing off and on (but it's also been raining and sleeting, so the chances of us getting any more snow today are low).
Church has been cancelled - again.
That's twice this week. GET BEHIND ME, SATAN! I have Jesus on my side!!
And Meg and Jack White, but they don't count nearly as much.
It doesn't seem like Christmas Eve, but it most definitely is. We couldn't wait till this evening, so the 5 of us got up early and opened our presents.
Aha, I have cellphone!! Finally!!
And it's green.
Someone made a book of some of the best lolcatz. It's pretty funny.
Halp! I'm in ur cupz...soaking up your teaz.
I also got "Folie a Deux" and "The Silver Cord" - at last.
"Folie a Deux" is pretty good. Yes, that's the extent of my musical commentary. Because saying, "Oh my gosh, Patrick has SUCH an amazing voice and Joe is SOOOO good at guitar and that one song was AWESOME!" seems to carry just about as much meaning.
I'm pretty musically retarded.
Or at least musically close-minded.
Or close-minded in general. Hey, Republican.

Baby, it's cold outside!
And our economy's in trouble.
Understatement(s) of the year.
There was a BOMB THREAT.
Someone wrote a "threatening note", and though the administration didn't want to take it seriously, they had to sweep the school and evacuate us ANYWAY.
Only it turns out the threat was real.
They called the bomb squad and forced us to stay in the bleachers for TWO FREAKING HOURS.
It was pretty ridiculous. Most of us had JACKETS in our LOCKERS, but we weren't allowed to GET THEM in case there was a BOMB in there.
I ended up wearing Connor's shirt (he was wearing another one underneath, so it was okay. No nudity.) while sitting on my friend's lap and huddling against various other people. It was sort of degrading, but very warm.
Mmmm, steak...
It seems things are heating up. But not outside.
My mom thinks it's going to snow. Hurray.
All after-school activities have been cancelled...but not the basketball game?? Don't worry, kids. After all, there's only a BOMB in the school!

Live long and be prosperous
The rain is back. I'm sort of enjoying it. Truth be told, I love it when it rains. I would sort of miss it if I moved to Pullman, where it never rains.
I can't wait for winter. We're not even all the way through fall, and I'm pumped for winter. I think it's my favorite season, followed by summer, then fall, then spring. Spring is just kind of lame. There's nothing really to look forward, besides prom (XP) and maybe Easter. And Spring Break, but after a lifetime of lame Spring Breaks, I no longer get excited about this break from school.
Aaagh this blog is so cool!! I want to be part of the Prosperity challenge, too!! This person has really beautiful Sims, though, with cool hair.
I think I'll wait until I get another expansion pack and some new hair.
Ooh, even the aliens are beautiful!!
Seriously, doesn't the Prosperity challenge sound FASCINATING??
Or titillating.
For complete rules, go here.

Kookabura...gum...something like that...
It's days like these, when the rain won't stop, thunder and lightning are abundant, and my internet is slow, that I love Washington.
Note the sarcasm.
Driver's Ed is FINALLY over.
We had our final test today and I passed!!
Eh, I was pretty sure I would, because the test wasn't too hard, but it's good to know anyway.
Except I didn't have time to feel cocky and triumphant (which is good; I need to work on NOT feeling that way) because nearly everyone else failed.
.....
Oops.
My aunt visiting for a week. My dad picked her up at the airport and is on his way.
It's too bad, though, that it's raining so hard.
She lives in Florida and was just in San Diego, so a thunderstorm might be a bit of a shock.
Welcome to Washington, Lisa!!!
Uh-oh...how did this happen?
Yeah, it's a monotheistic religion that believes in God and God alone, but that's where the similarities between Islam and Christianity end.
Well, not really, but I don't believe agree with Islamic beliefs.
Ah, and I was one question away from getting Christianity as my answer.
Don't judge me!!! (Ha, taking a leaf out of Pastor Ty's semi-ridiculous and confusing sermon)
Rather shocking news today. A girl from my former church got pregnant...on purpose.
I did NOT see this coming.
Not only was this completely random and out of the blue, but it sort of evoked feelings like, "WHAT WERE YOU THINKING??? WHY WOULD YOU DO SOMETHING LIKE THAT ON PURPOSE??? 'JUNO' WAS JUST A MOVIE!!!"
Seriously, WHY does watching "Juno" make someone want a baby??
She didn't even KEEP the baby!!
Yeah, yeah, Pastor Ty, don't judge.
Um, I read that passage in the Bible yesterday, and it TOTALLY cleared things up.
1 Corinthians 5:12-13
12 What business is it of mine to judge those outside the church? Are you not to judge those inside? 13 God will judge those outside. Expel the wicked man from among you.
Still, he did make a good point about not condemning anyone, because that is setting yourself up as God, but if it is someone who is KNOWINGLY and WILLFULLY sinning, you need to have a talk with them.
That sounded totally psycho-Christian, I know, but pregnancy??
Note the sarcasm.

You Should Follow Islam |
You believe that there is one true God and that it's your duty to submit to his will. Life may be trying, unfair, or painful here on earth. But you're waiting for the Paradise in the afterlife. Religion is the most important thing in your life, and you are fully devoted to God. You are willing to fast, pray often, and follow all of God's rules to make sure you have a place in heaven. |

Pride and Prejudice will kill me yet.
Aaaaaargh. I LOATHE Pre-AP English. I was all set to keep reading "The Wind In the Willows", but Mrs. Sims told me I can't read that for my book journal, so now there's no point in reading it, and even if I were to go ahead and do so, I have no motivation. :P So I had to find another "challenging book" (she kept saying, "Read 'The Good Earth', it's the best book you will ever read!"), and I finally got behind annoyed and picked up "Pride and Prejudice". Raaah.
It's been raining for 24 HOURS!! Some of the houses in the neighborhood started flooding, so school closed an hour ago and we got to go home. I didn't think I would get to come home because I thought my mom was working, but she came and picked me up. Phew.
"The 9 Lives of Chloe King" is way lame.
I had a bacon sandwich for lunch, though, so that was pretty cool. Nothing on it, just bacon and white bread. It was pretty fantabulous, and when I got home I kept screaming, "BACON SANDWICH WITH MAYO!!" "Dreamcatcher"-style.
I vow never to watch the BBC version of "Pride and Prejudice". Ever.
My mom has watched it like 50 million times.
She's laughing at my pain.
